I want to buy a truck and operate under my own authority. I was wondering if there is a way that I could rent or lease a trailer so that I didn't have to buy one at the same time that I buy a truck?

There are ways to rent flatbed trailers, monthly but I'm not sure if they will rent/lease to an "individual". They may be steel and they will require a pretty decent credit score and kind of pricey. Check National Semi-Trailer or other truck leasing companies like Ryder, Penske.

Thanks for the help, guys! I'll check these out.
I'm just thinking that if I could rent a trailer at first, I could afford just a little nicer truck to start out with. Otherwise, the same money has to be split between the truck and the trailer. -
I'd highly recommend you drive for a company first, then maybe buy a truck and lease to a company (use their trailers) before you consider doing the independent o/o gig. That's tough enough, but in this iffy economy???

I tried the renting route with Ryder and Penske basically because I was not a business owner for them to check my finacial statis (something likke that) they could rent to me as personal...now if your an established bisiness owner and they can check your business/finacial statis you can do it...don't quote but I just tried this week to rent so I could hall hay down to TX for my horses

did you get a price from them?
