Hey guys. I apologize if Im posting a Topic that's already been answered. I've searched the forums with no luck on this particular topic.

I'll be brief. I start school in Sept. graduate in late October. I have a class c for an open container back in April 2012. The stupidest thing I've ever done. I have clean record other than this. I live in the country and drove up to the local gas station late at night. On my way back I was less than a mile from my house. I popped the top which was a bit out of character for me .. However within almost a minute I was pulled over for a taillight out in my old diesel Mercedes wagon. It was almost like it was meant to be.. I never see law enforcement on my road. Anyways.. I realize this was a stupid move and at the time hadn't thought about driving. Now that I'm about to start school for my CDL I'm wondering if I'm screwed with finding a good company. I may have to do my time with a mega carrier but thought I would get some outside opinions first. I appreciate the input.

Talked with a recruiter last week. They wanted to know mainly if there were any DUI's- Fellonies(sp?)--preventable accidents--missdameaners(sp?again) that were unpaid. Any outstanding warants or unpaid driving tickets of any kind. If your school is the type that finds you a job to get their tuition paid back-- they'll boot you out before you ever get started. The school knows what companies look for because they count on you getting hired on to get their money back.

Thanks Katk. I'm pretty much going to school for free. TTC cost about 1200.00. In TN I applied for the Lottery scholarship which covered 650.00. I also was able to get a farm grant because I've worked on a farm seasonally the last few years. That covered the rest. They do have recruiters coming at the end. Might be a good Idea to call my instructor tomorrow to Inquire. Thanks again for the reply.

Alcohol traffic offenses are pretty major in the trucking world, and being so recent, it will definitely hurt you. I would definitely start inquiring about it to make sure you're not wasting your time.

    DON'T believe the school recruiter!

Speak with recruiters from many carriers and ensure they understand your conviction.

You may be fighting an uphill battle.

Those other post are most deff correct. The recruiter I was talking with was strictly a recruiter for the company we were looking to hire on with so I assumed(that's never good) that she was asking questions that the company cared about. She only wanted to know if we had any misdemeanors that weren't paid or had warrants out on them. We had none so that conversation didn't go very far. I just remember all the peeps that didn't make it in our CDL school to the 2nd day due to past criminal history. I do know one thing for sure!!!! Don't try to keep anything on the DL. Put it all out on the table early and then you'll know if it's a go or no go.
