My fiance is graduating school soon and the only offers that he has that we like are maverick and btc so basically we want to know who is the best. Who gives better hometime? Btcs website says every weekend and maverick says most weekends. Maverick pays more on training and orientation. Btcs training is shorter than mavericks. Which is better? Which will treat u good and get you home like they say. Pros and cons please.

From what I have read, Maverick is the best choice. :yes2557:

BTC if you can get it. Their equipment, especially their headache rack will help your fiance not have to work, just to work. It has a dunnage rack that holds wood, coil racks, chains, binders and tarps, so that nothing really has to be left on a trailer and then switched over when you have to change trailers. Believe me, it's a lot of work having to do that constantly.

I didn't care for Maverick's unprofessional behavior, either. Offering a lower rate to drive for them, once you've arrived, is totally unprofessional and sleazy. YMMV.

Funny, When I worked for Maverick they were very professional and if I were to go back OTR they would be the first I would call.

I graduated Truck school August 7th. I've applied to Maverick, Werner, CRST Con-way ABF, and Boyd-bros. Werner offered me a job 3 days later. The only companies I haven't heard back from was Conway and ABF. I want to hold out for Maverick I like their trucks and equipment the most, and plan to pull a flatbed for them. My recruiter Jeff is very informative and straightforward. He let me know that my MVR checked out fine, and now I am waiting for my application and background check to be approved which I should hear back on tomorrow. My recruiter said upon being hired I would have to wait for a trainer to become available which would be between the first to third weeks of September. I spoke to a Maverick driver that parks his truck at the yard my truck school is located here in Illinois. He kindly gave me a tour of his truck and said Maverick is a good company to start out for he is currently driving between Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kentucky and Louisiana they try to get you home most weekends but it won't be every weekend. I believe Maverick is the best choice for me let's wait and see. Good luck to you & your fiance.

Congrats. I didn't have your experience with them, so....I base my opinion on mine. You don't have to agree. That's why I put in my post YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary)

Good Luck doing whatever you're doing now.

Id go with BTC if they actually have it in writing they will get you home every weekend. So if you live lets say in south carolina and on friday you're in laredo, tx, they gonna put you on a plane? Take a field trip to the nearest pilot/flying J near your home and talk with every btc and every maverick driver that comes in. I'm biased and dont know btc's hometime percentage but mavericks last time i checked was 85 percent of the fleet home on the weekends. That doesn't mean you get home 85 percent of the weekends for mathmatical ease lets say maverick had 1000 trucks, 850 of them get home on the weekend (85%). There's some trucking cos im sure their training program consists of showing your cdl and finding your truck on the lot. So YOU decide what's better, a longer or shorter training program. Come to Maverick or any company and expect them to bow down and worship you and they'll give you a bus ticket home. Drivers that do their jobs the way they are supposed to usually dont have any problem at Maverick. Drivers that think their fleet manager is their personal secretary and are at their beckon call,,, SURPRISE!!! and Maverick sucks. Drivers that come to Maverick expecting to get home EVERY weekend...SURPRISE!!!! and Maverick sucks. I love Maverick, working here, teaching new drivers as a driving instructor, am I happy all the time? nope. 95% of the time or more, yes. Im biased but given the two, id say give Maverick a try first, for at least 6mos then if youre not happy try btc but leave maverick on good terms so when you find out the grass aint greener on the other side, you can come back to Maverick.
