To summarize what I have learned at this forum:

    1. All trucking companies suck.

    2. Truck driving pay sucks. You will end up $150.00 in the hole after a 3000 mile run as a company driver.

    3. You will get divorced....even if you're not married.

    4. Your dog will run off.

    5. You must stay out for 51 weeks and 6 days.

    6. You don't ever get to actually drive the truck. You just sit in it waiting for the fix it shop to get to you, the shipper or receiver to load or unload you, your DM to find a load for you (which he/she tells you that all freight has stopped in the USA).

    7. If you do the Fleece program and don't earn enough money to make the payment, the trucking company will burn your house down and execute your family.

    8. Lot lizards take debit cards now.(Just run the card thru the slot)

    9. New drivers are too busy running over sh#t and backing into things just trying to get out of the yard and have too many accident reports to fill out to even worry about getting a load.

    10. All trucks are governed at 25mph.

    11. No other driver can drive except you.

    12. All trucks are POS and have 18,365,457 miles or more on them and are like shopping carts with that 1 wheel that goes crazy all the time.

    13. You cannot idle a truck for more than 3 seconds at a time or the company will have you assassinated.

    14. You have ate so much greasy truck stop food that you can now piss butter.

    15. If your run goes thru the mountains, you will never be seen or heard from again.

    16. The US is littered with abandoned trucks.

    17. NYC is the worst place to drive thru and your wheels will get stolen off of your truck while you're moving.

    18. All driver trainers are pill popping, coke snorting, bus hijacking psychos.

    19. No one understands what the hell anybody is saying on the CB.

    20. You are better off flipping burgers than driving a truck.

So why do you drive a truck for a living?

    lol that's funny......

i'm one of the few out here who do it because i want to, not because i have to. i took an "early retirement" from a lucrative career in aviation when our customer demanded cuts and the employee union just didn't get it and demanded a cost of living increase.....so the customer found someone else who would do the job at their price..... i enjoy my job....but, i did my homework and got on with a good company and didn't fall for the bottom feeder's bs.....

home every weekend, brand new truck, make good enough money my wife doesn't have to work and our bills are paid and even saving a bit at the end of every month.

it is possible. but you have to go out and find it. the companies like that don't knock on your door, you have to find them and knock on theirs.

you'd think from reading the posts on here of the hundreds who fall for the peaches and ice cream bs from the recruiters that it really is like that out here. for some of us, it's a really good and rewarding experience.

i will agree with #19 though....too many out there who have so much echo and reverb on their radios you can't understand a #### thing they're saying lol if they could hear what they really sound like on the other end of the radio they'd rip all that #### out of their truck lol

even made my wife laugh she was just out with me for a week and was able to laugh at all of it just as hard as me.

When people trip you up and you're at the end of your rope you can scream, yell and cuss them in the privacy of the truck and then carry on with business without them knowing. Try that in a normal work environment! They would lock you up!
