The nose is a very small, moving target when you've been just woken from sleep.
I use a hammer as a tire checker.
If I ever needed it as a deterrent, it has more mass-to-impact area ratio than a tire thumper.

I kept a .45 with me. Closest I came to having to use it was when I first thought a dog was attacking me at a rest area in South Dakota. Turned out it just wanted a little intimacy with my leg (but was met with rejection).
Take care in the places you go to. Places which have a bad reputation.. the word gets out. Be aware of your surroundings. The reality of it is that you probably have more reason to worry about being run over in a truck stop than from someone trying to intentionally cause you harm. -
My .45 works fine for me..

Thanks for the replies some good info here. Was also looking around online and I found you can get a clear bullet/shatter resistant film for the windows for fairly cheap. Probably not necessary but might help out in a wreck too.

I think you are worrying too much. -
The film might keep the window from shattering but it's not going to stop a bullet.

Maybe some foam mace that won't spray all over the place in close quarters. Just gotta make sure it's legal and ok with the company as posted before. -
