You guys are right - it is Valvoline. That's was everyone in the pickup forums have always said about the ISB's in Rams from the factory but it's been years since I looked at those forums my little Ram is just an afterthought anymore. I remember the last company ride I had that was brand new an '09 model 387 Pete with an ISX. It actually had a small sticker from the factory that indicated "Valvoline 15W40" was put in it on the assembly line. Hadn't had a lot of sleep last night when I posted that, I stand corrected. I just remember the sticker on the frame rail near the motor on that 387 and for whatever reason I was thinking it said Delvac when I should have known better..

You can't make any money sleeping.... get to drivng monkey!!!

It's funny you say that - it's exactly what Bill seems to think since I've been letting him find loads for me starting last Thursday LoL. But I'm not complaining I'm doing very well. Already have something lined up for monday and and actively looking for a little short hop to work today which I'm positive we will find before I head off for that pickup we've got on the books for in the morning.

I use Wix filters.......but just to add fuel to the fire........my last new Cummins came with Chevron Delo as the factory fill. A buddy of mine bought one earlier this year; same thing. (see sticker on frame rail of attached pic)
Maybe Cummins puts the oil out to bid and uses the cheapest one as factory fill?
-
Yep there's the sticker I saw, maybe it was Delo.. LoL

What oil is put into an engine is up to the truck manufacturer. they just buy the engines from the maker. Just like belts, and all accessory drive systems, they vary between truck makers.
What they are saying is that if you an pick-up a gallon of Cummins oil, it is Valvoline in the bottle.... -
I always wonder who receives the money from the oil co. endorsements? X brand of oil mentioned for the motor, but is usually stuck on the truck mfg's part of the build. Not that it matters, just adding to the curiosity.
I remember talking to Schaeffers oil in St. Louis & they mentioned several times over about the various folks with their hands out in order to put Schaeffer on the recommended product list from the factory. -
LBZ funny you should mention Schaeffers; because I also use their products. I don't talk about oil much....it's like politics and religion in trucking circles!! LOL
LBZ Thanks this.
