$1.32 per mile just to break even? Seems a bit high.

Oh, ok. You included 35 cents per mile as "wages". Therefore, at $1.32 per mile you will be covering your expenses as well as have 35 cpm as income.

I'm a company driver so im not the most educated on owner oping but I'd like to eventually get my own truck. $1.32 per mile is CHEAP freight and you don't want to even haul anything like that. I havnt really even looked at load boards but I've heard loads go anywhere from $1.75-$4 per mile depending on the area, length of haul, etc.

And also, unless you already have a decent bit of cash in an emergency/breakdown account, I'd put more into your emergency/breakdown/maintenance account each month until you have enough saved up to fall back on if needed. Better safe then sorry.

But that's all I've got to say, I'll save the rest for the experienced owner ops who are full of knowledge on the subject

35 per mile income? I already make 42 per mile as a new company driver.

Where is equipment replacement? Some mistakes in your math. For every 100,000 miles you roll in a year anything that cost you $1,000 in that timeframe is going to cost you 1cpm rolling. I couldn't break even at a $1.32 a mile and I have zero household debts and paid for equipment - oh, and I also know how to balance a checkbook (inside joke).

What are you going to do if you come up short on miles?

You are basing your fixed monthly expenses on a variable input.
