He must want a newer truck. He got the part about Mary right. Mr Lawrence is a good guy. The rest is only luck. Those dispatchers are trained to piss you off. Maintenance in Van Buren couldn't fix a tricycle. I'd keep the fuel tanks full.

How is getting lost stupid?
Everybody who has ever travelled anywhere in any sort of vehicle has gotten lost at some point. -
i hear ya man, there just a student base company. Cheap labor outfit...stinks man...

I really don't have some sort of ax to grind with USA in particular.
My issue is with people who think its ok to pay .25 a mile to new drivers and that they shouldn't ##### about it because it drags down all of us.
I would never work for those wages.
I didn't even when I was a rookie.
JB Hunt tried that crap with me and I laughed at the recruiter. She said because I lived in Maine I didn't need to make as much as somebody from Massachusetts!!! -
Hummmmmm. 2200 miles a week. That's not even 4 days work. What do you do the other 3. Sit in the truck stop and spend your 2200 mile paycheck?
-
I said that included the crappy first few weeks since I went solo and the fun short weeks I go home. which is about every 5 weeks. Some of those I get 1800 some 2300. I never expect a lot of miles on home week or the week I come back out (depending on what day I go home, its usually the week I go home that's the low miles) If I look at only my past 2-3 months my average goes up to about 2500-2700 a week. got to love hitting a dock for live load/unload and sitting there 3-5 hours.
I do not sit at truck stops, BS with randome drivers at truck stops, nor spend money at them other than snacks every now and then or coffee. I eat out of the cooler.
I make my money and have no complaints for the most part. I pay my monthly bills and have paid off all my other debt except for the pick up. that will be paid off with in the year. So I must be making enough money. I am getting what I signed up for. My school and expierience. When my year is up I'll revisit my current employment. until that time I will do what I need to.Last edited: Aug 19, 2012

I think this is well written and thank you for it. I read it to my husband and like you said nothing in life is perfect but what you make it and we have the same attitude as you about it all. We are in Fort Smith, AR and maybe sometime you might actually meet up with my husband out there. He is in Baltimore, MD with about 5 other USA drivers all delivering to the same place in the morning. Have a great weekend.

I'm betting by Monday night, 4of the 5 are still waiting for a load.
pete1 Thanks this. -
I didn't read the entire thread so I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but they have to give you your paycheck when they let you go. I think they have several days if you quit. You should take them to the labor board and file for waiting time penalties. The labor board will make them pay your average day pay x the total amount of days it took them to pay you. $$$$$$$

The Arkansas Labor Board is worthless. I've called them before. They will stay as far away from USA as possible.
