I won't do it ever again, and they did have me by the balls. That much money into a truck it's kind of hard to walk away, but if you question anything they try to force on you they give you the same line "if you don't like it, park your truck and find somewhere else to work".

What company??????
-
I don't think I should post the name just in case it might ruin a potential lawsuit. I think it's safe to say though that you shouldn't lease any trucks from any companies in Elk County Pennsylvania.

If I understand what you have posted, you have signed 4 leases on 4 trucks in 1 month? Did you read the leases before signing? Both parties are bound to the terms in any contract. You may want to contact OOIDA, tell them what happened and fax them a copy of your leases. They have a lot of experience with this type of thing. If what you have posted is true, then you may also want to contact a lawyer. Carriers can withhold your final settlement up to 6 weeks.

4 leases on 4 trucks in almost a year. Yes I read the leases, but the content of the contracts they seemed to ignore and try to change as they went with no new paperwork signed by either of us.
I sent an email to OOIDA, but I'm not a member so I'm not sure if they'll help me at all. I have a meeting with a lawyer on Thursday, but unless she is willing to help me out and then take her fees from a settlement or a judgement, I can't really do much of anything with that either. I've been without a paycheck for about 1.5 months now. -
Not true. They can hold your escrow for up to 6 weeks, not ur final settlement. Unless it says otherwise in your contract.

I think the lesson that should be learned here is that if you want to do a l/p, you are better off doing it through a dealer. Think of all the money you spent for repairs and down time (trading trucks that weren't the price of scrap metal)...that could have actually been payments to a dealer.
I have done a lot of research on these l/p deals that companies offer. There are maybe a few companies that do what they say, but the majority of them will screw you in a heart beat. I would also highly suggest that if you apply with another company to make sure that this company hasn't placed false information on your DAC report. If there is any false information then you have the right to dispute it or if you do file a suit then make sure it is court ordered to remove the negative remarks. Just food for some thought.crb Thanks this. -
I followed a link, either here or on the OOIDA site. It's supposed to give you a free copy of your DAC. I also found out that within a certain amount of time you can legally request a copy of your personnel file from anywhere you work.

I would consider that the final settlement.
