    Alrighty,

They will house you in a motel until you can find other lodging

    I started at 19.00 got a raise to 21.00 after 90 days

Insurance after 90 days . I pay 70 per check for me and 2 kids and pay is biweekly.

Match up to 4% 401k after 6 months

They expect you to have 10 hour rest period between shifts. 24 hour reset required (oilfield exception)

Work up to 70 hours never a problem. Plenty of work to do everyday.

They have freightliner day cabs for water trucks and belly dump trucks

    Call them at 580-938-2020

Thanks for the post Oilfieldmike. Been seriously wanting to get out west to the oil patch for a while but it's been so long since I've drove (97) that I'm wondering if I could even get hired.

The tanker endorsement is pretty easy to get. I think the book to study is about 4 pages. The main items to know is the difference between smooth bore tanks and baffled tanks, the sloshing effect on the truck while cornering, the movement of the liquid in the tank while you drive, and the higher center of gravity.

as far as labor goes the only part that involves lifting is hooking and unhooking the hoses from the tanks be it water tanks, oil tanks, or frac tanks.

overtime after 40 hours at J&L and all the water haulers I know of here in Oklahoma/Texas Panhandle.. There are companies that pay a percentage of the truck or by the barrel I know of in North Dakota. The only reason they do that is so they do not have to pay overtime. There is also a loophole that says if the have apportioned plates on their Trucks they are not required to pay overtime.

While in north Dakota I talked to some Schlumberger fracking engineers and they all gave an estimate of at least 10 years. Here in Oklahoma I have seen the rigs move out of an area and come back after a few months to the same area.

After the drilling, the well is producing oil and gas for years to come. The wells are only hooked to a gas pipeline so trucks are still needed to take the oil to a central location that is on the main pipeline to the refineries. They do not pipe individual wells into the main line ie. XL pipeline from Oklahoma to Texas that they are getting started on.

The well also will still have water with the oil. They separate the water from the oil and that water still needs to be hauled to a disposal which is a well that is Drilled just to pump the water back into the ground. I have seen an area that they attempted to pipe the water to a nearby disposal but they ended up just bringing trucks back in. That area was drilled in 2005 and the work is still there even after the drilling rigs were finished.

I would say that 10 years is a good estimate of how long this will last at least. We have seen technology improve and start the whole process all over again twice now and I would not doubt that in 10 more years even better methods will be developed and start the whole process over again.

Also remember the price of oil is still high and the supply of oil in existing wells can barely keep up with the almost 90 million barrel per day world consumption rate.

When the price of oil goes even higher areas thought to be too expensive to drill will no longer be too expensive. This is exactly what happened in north Dakota. Those fields were discovered in the 60's but drilling technology and the low price of oil made drilling more expensive then what they would have gotten for the oil.

The amount of money you can make out here for 10 years equals a good retirement as long as you don't spend your money faster than you make it.
