Looking for a change in our trailers, did I make the right call? RSC/United drivers?

I haul for a regional heavy equipment company that hauls mostly boom lifts, telehandlers, and sicssor lifts within a 400 mile radius of our shops. We purchased two load king HFT70 folding tail trailers to our small fleet last fall, both brand new from the factory. They have both been a nightmare, with hoses getting torn apart where they were routed, crossmembers being bent way out of place by using the gooseneck ramp, and tails that wont lock into the transport position. Both have structural welds and steel failing on the main part of the tail. With very little help from the company with these issues and the fac that we really need 53' trailers, we are looking at buying different trailers. I was asked kind of on the spot about my reccomendation for trailers, the first thing that came to mind was Landoll's 440 sliders. The boss must have a little faith in me to ask for input for this big of a buy i guess. Anybody have experience with these trailers? Not looking at tri-axles as we dont need that kind of capacity, but we need something dependable and with very little load angle and full width loading area, not ramps. Hoping theres a few ex United, RSC, Hertz, Sunbelt drivers out there? thanks much

Why no ramps? Rietenour makes great step decks and with the kind of cargo you're hauling would probably work well. Ramps are easily stored and easy to manuever. You could go with a dropdeck lowboy also if you need something beefy.

We need the speed of the tail. Myself and other drivers are unloading street side often on busy streets. we also need the ability to dock smaller loads like electric sicssors, and warehouse forklifts. our heaviest boom lift is about 47k and we have to get permits to haul them anyways. The wheel spacing width wise changes with every machine, from 30" to full trailer width, and a lot of our lifts need less than 7 degrees of break over angle to make it up

Pulling out a set of ramps, leveling them, then putting them away is pretty quick compared to pulling a couple levers? Not to mention trying to load equipment with tilt sensors and Max approach angles. Hell, I had to throw boards under the rear of an ambulance the other day to keep it from scraping the bumper with my step and ramps, some of those scissor lifts would easily get stuck at the top transition. If all I did was haul equipment like that, I'd have a Landoll without a doubt!

The dropdecks I used to use you didnt need ramps. Drop your air bags and pull away. The front of the trailer acts as the ramp. Like I said quick and easy. You might call them something else but thats what I know them by. You dont have to worry about scraping on angthing either. Just my perspective.

You're talking about a RGN or lowboy. A drop deck, also known as a step deck would need ramps. Neither trailer would be worth a #### for this purpose. You obviously have never driven a scissor lift.

The ones polarbear is talking about are folding necks. would work but too big of a lip loading, and i need the full deck length. I really hope this Landoll thing goes through, I hate having to deal with these junk Load Kings. But I do have changing the hoses down to a science and always have spares in the truck. We worry about all the moving parts on these folding tail trailers, and I have heard such good things about the sliders, it seems like the way to go. The speed is a big part, as I unload and load anywhere from 4 to 20+ times a day. Thank you for any input!

sounds to me like a landoll is what you are looking for, fast, easy to use,i would go with a wet kit instead of the pony motor set up especially if you always pull the same trailer
