I am not, nor was I ever with USX.

Just get it in writing, is all I have to say (Recruiters are bald-faced liars).

I'm a new student with USX, hired on July 20th. I have no issues thus far. My team requirement is only 8 weeks not 6 months so unless they just changed that as August 2012, that info is wrong. The orientation handbook which has a few lines of outdated info even states that the required teaming is 8 weeks.

Are the trucks auto or manual?
Also, how soon after orientation do you get with a trainer?

You get a trainer as soon as one is available. Non-smoking females are the hardest to find.

There are still a few autos, they are being phased out. Only solos have a chance of getting one. Most teams get new trucks which are 10 speed manuals

When we went through orientation 20 months ago, they were making people sign this form and agree to teaming for six months if they lived in a low freight area (like Florida). I think we even signed it but we were going to team anyway. I believe this form is used periodically.

I was thinking that too but the guy is from NC which isn't really a low freight area. Maybe they sent it by mistake.

Back on topic for the original poster, the other guy pretty much nailed it on the head with the pros and cons. It's overall about the same as anywhere you go, same issues, little better equipment, competitive pay for a "training company" I have also shopped around with other companies and have yet to find anything that can compete. I like USX overall, I have a great FM for the most part, and I've been training new guys for a few months now, which is rewarding as well. Feel free to ask any questions directly! Good luck and keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up!
