Youngsville, N.C. — A 53-year-old woman died after a tractor-trailer struck her car along U.S. Highway 1 in Youngsville Saturday morning, authorities said.
State troopers said that Sandra Hewitt had a red light and stopped at the intersection with Sunset Drive and Rolling Acres Road around 7:15 a.m., but then pulled out into the intersection while the light was still red. Her 2007 Toyota Avalon was struck by a tractor-trailer going west on the cross street. The impact of the crash caused the truck to tip over.
Hewitt was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
The tractor-trailer driver suffered minor injuries. Troopers said he will not be charged and that speed and alcohol were not factors in the wreck.
U.S. 1 was shut down in both directions for more than seven hours after the crash.

Never do we want to see anyone get hurt while we are driving this big rigs but man people in cars have to get some special schooling on the dangers of cutting semis off and learning how to merge in traffic we are supposed to be the proffecionals but for godsake we cant control what the people in cars do other than hold on tight...

Prayers for the victim's family and for the trucker. At least the news story stated what actually happened so that everyone can see that the trucker was not at fault.

I had a pickup truck decide to do a U-turn on the interstate just yesterday as he was paused on the grass and then as I approached he pulled out and got into the right lane right in front of me. I was only about 500 yards when he did this numbskull maneuver. Maybe my truck should have been painted flourescent yellow instead of fire engine red. He obviously didn't see me. :angry1:

That too bad......however.....four wheelers seem to think that big trucks will not run them over. Typically they don't.......they run through them.
