I keep hearing that they will hire anyone with a CDL, but this is obviously not the case. I've checked on Craigslist, ND under the transport catecory of jobs and ALL of the oil field jobs I've seen want 1 or 2 years of experience. I've had a CDL for years, but no verifiable exp. and I'm wondering if there isn't some way to get my foot into a driving job if I show up in Feb. of next year? The housing seems to be a problem and I'm hearing that WalMart is not allowing people to camp in their parking lot anymore. I really want the oil field gig somehow without doing the OTR thing with a mega carrier. I have experience from the military working in the dirt, but that's over 20 years ago.

they have tightened up a lot of the requirements because work is slow right now. also because of accidents.
there are still some places that will hire with little to no experience but they are harder to find now. -
Yes to all, some will put you in a sleeper truck and you will make more, living out of a truck up here is allot harder than OTR living though, But guys are doing it, seen a guy living out of a coffin sleeper and he wasn't a small guy.

Just showing up is risky brother but not impossible, especially if you bring lots of money. Everything from food on down is JACKED upgdyupgal Thanks this.

Hello everyone,
My name is London and looking to come work for Key Energy. A little bit about myself is I have over 19 years experience in the trucking industry (From Dispatching ,driving , operations and management). Currently working overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan for Contractors . After the draw down of Iraq a few of my friends wen to work in North Dakota and I went to Afghanistan.
Like to know who is the biggest player in trucking (Key Energy or too many company's to just pick one? ) . So if I understand rent is 460.00 a month per person or is that between the two personal living in that quarters ? Far as time off ..... are you allowed to continue to work say two weeks and take five days off at one time.
Of course the question on everyone's mind is money? So if i read everything correctly salary is $90,000 with overtime . Is there options to make more ? A normal week is 60 hours , and how many turns are you able to do on a daily bases .Thank you for any help you can give in this matter
God Bless

Hey E
I am with Key and it is a little slow right now, no one is making 90k at this time, as a driver anyway. 460.00 is rent for Key maybe not others, look into it from who ever you go with as some live like rats up here. Amt. of turns will vary day to day depending on assignment. Allot of players up here so look into everything before deciding on which one, and get guaranteed housing. Power Fuels is one of the biggest. We do a 5 on 2 off days that is, this varies with Co's and positions. 22 to 25 dollars and hr plus time and a half for ot allows you to figure up the hrs you will put in for salary expectations, for driving position anyway -
Hi GetZapt, I have heard of drivers hauling production water to Signalness and Dvorak and having 24 hour hauls. Is that accurate? I can't imagine sitting in line that long? Do you get paid by the hour on these or is it contract?
-
there were times last spring you would sit 12 hours a load at a disposal in line. not that way any more. you would be on the clock 24 hours a day get your sleep sitting in line they would wake you up every hour or so to move ahead in line haul 2-3 loads a day i made a killing last spring sitting in disposal lines. with all the snow melt running off into pits filling them then pit water backing up disposals along with all the other normal production water and such once they got rid of all the pits all the wait time went away. now days a long wait at a disposal is an hour. pit water is pretty much a thing of the past. the only pits that exist and more are dry fillings pits and are filled in as soon as the drill rig moves off site you may occasionally haul 1 load of rain water out of a pit anymore and that's about it. no liquid is allowed to be intentionaly put in a pit anymore and the pits must be closed in as soon as the rig moves off location.

This doesn't sound appealing at all aside from the money.
