Some one tried to hack my account?

First off, change your password to some thing of 9-12 characters. Dont let it all be lower case. Use numbers in the password. dont use obvious words that make sense like the name here 0i1pAtchTrucker. A good hacker will guess it with a little research.

Best bet? Go to a shopping mall. Take a picture of auto license plates. Avoid the vanity plates. Most auto plates are 6 characters. Go home, write down the license plates. Dont use a entire plate. Use 3 characters of each plate.

Also, passwords are not to be saved to your desktop screen. Or on your computer desk. Write them in a book. Put the book away. If you have guests over make sure they are not watching you enter passwords. Do not have your keyboard visible from a window. Remember to never use a link in a email saying some one has tried to breach your account. Banks and any institution will never contact you of a breach. Anyone that sends you a letter claming that they are from a place where they tried to access you is a phisher. They want your info and these emails should never be read.

All email accounts should never use a preview pane! If you dont know it, dont open it. Phishers are getting better at looking real. Its your info, please stop helping others for what you worked hard for.

 

Why would anyone even want to hack an account on here?

 

I use roboform for password storage. It autofills password fields on pages. Each password can be locked under the main password or unlocked.

Some folks seem to use the same password for everything. Not a good idea at all. If someone does hack an account such as the forum here, and if you use the same password for other things, it opens the door for them.

 

Oh well.

From what you say it was someone down the road from you. My guess is you know the person. Have you made anyone mad lately? It's not like there is a financial gain hacking a truck forum.
