    Not with Central.
But in trucking school I was sorta the show-off.
And thus, I ended up taking out 3 barrels and running the road test truck over.

So today was turning day. We took the trucks to the industrial part of town and made left and right hand turns. These turns took place on two way, four way, and one way roads. It's not to bad just follow instructions. It's a little difficult if your still having issues with shifting since your only on day two of driving. Remember this is a very fast paced program. Some people just aren't cut out for it. Remain calm and listen. We also did our PTI (per trip inspection) we are off Sunday and get to move over to the hotel. On Monday we do city driving and mountain driving. Time for some sleep. Been a busy week going to take advantage of the down time. Still got to study tomorrow, even though it's a day off.

Sunday was the day off. Enjoy it!!! Today we went driving in the city. Made left and right hand turns with traffic flowing all around. Got some interstate time and then drove up to the mountains. We drove up and down several mountain grades. Some of the grades where 3%, 5%, 6%, and 10% down hill and uphill grades. Again not difficult if you LISTEN. We also went over are PTI (pre trip inspection). We lost 2 more students today. One quit and the other was removed. Remember it's a very fast course, it just may not be your learning style. Try and prepare before each day if possible. You can even download the Utah CDL manual online and read prior to getting here. Would help a lot if you did. I did and I got one of the highest grades in class on the written tests. Tomorrow is our PTI test and we start learning to back up. Let you know what happens.

Practice backing up with a toy truck, it was posted by someone here. I did that even with 15 years and learned how to do a 90 degree back with the spread.

    I-80Trucker and kws6011 Thank this.

Today we did our PTI exam, not difficult by any means. It's a knowledge test not a skill test. Learn the list and acronyms. We then started doing our backing manuevers. We started with straight backing, it's exactly that drive straight backwards keeping trailer and tractor between cones. After accomplishing that skill we moved onto off-set backing. Off set backing is moving from one lane to the lane next to you. Think of a loading dock, your in slot 15 and need to move to slot 14. It has an exact formula follow the instructions. After maneuvering from one lane to the other it's just a straight back again. Tomorrow is parallel backing and repeating the other back manuevers. Thursday will be backing test. My group is ahead of schedule and if we keep at this pace will get to head out and do more driving before Fridays final drive exam. It's hot outside on the black top. Wear a hat and sunscreen if you don't want to burn of course this applies to the summer time. It is currently August. Temp was 97 today.

Today was a long day of backing. We started the day refreshing on the straight back and offset backing. Then went into parallel parking. After lunch we started to practice doing the backing as if testing. Start with the straight back, then parallel, and ending with the offset. Nothing is hard. Follow the formula on how to do each back. remember to follow instructions and Listen as I have mentioned daily. LISTENING seems to be a difficult problem for some people. Tomorrow is the backing test. Then will get on the road for some more practice before Fridays final drive exam.
