I've been driving for 2.5 years, starting at the ripe old age of 55, so it's never too late to have your dream. My dream was always to be a nurse, but that didn't work out, so I decided to drive a truck and I love it.

I took wood shop in school beacasue we had to choose between that and chrous and I can't even stand to hear myself sing not to mention all the cute guys were in wood shop :laughing-guffaw:!! I actually paid attention and learned some stuff. Passed on the automotive class because at the time I seen myself being a cosmotolgist and took cosmo. The thought never ever crossed to be a trucker until I was told I would make $80,000. I really didn't even take being a driver serious at first but fell in love with trucking. My grandfather always used to tell me trucking isn't ladylike and I wouldn't make it and said I was stupid for wanting to drive a a truck and would be making the biggest mistake of my life. Now he brags to everyone about me driving on the road and this that and the other.

I just passed the written test today, not to bad at all. I am so glad I don't have to go to the DMV every day, talk about lines, I had to join a line to even get in the door, 20 mins, then another line to get points checked, 30 mins, had a sit to and wait to be called for another person to check the points, 15 mins, line up again to pay and get permit, 10 mins, "right" says the woman behind the counter "go out and go round the back of the building to the testing centre, so off I toddle and yep, you guessed it, another line to join, I am now an expert liner/queuer so if you need any tips let me know, I can let you know how to entertain yourself in the queuing game (its not rude either).

The stuff I made in the class room was a Victoria sponge cake that looked more like a two big cookies and the cinnamon buns tasted of curry, my mum had a spice wheel and she had her own way of labelling it (we had to take our own ingredients in those days), so my poor dad takes a bite and he says to me " it's not that bad, just think of yourself as an experimental chef", bless him. Just the other day I burnt boiled potatoes, anyone want to try my strawberry jam and sardine sandwiches?

I think you chose the better profession, I have a friend who is a nurse and the abuse she gets is horrid and that's just from the patients.
