First truck I drove was a Volvo. Smooth ride for being so old. The second was a Peterbilt lots of storage space but low roof, keept hitting my head in the driving area. Third was a Freightliner branew 2013 with 26 miles on it. The ONLY thing i liked about it was the driverside setup hated everything else though it did have loads of room and a switch to shut all power off to the truck. Forth was my fav. The 2011 International fantastic truck lots of room inside and under the bunk. I realy like that the top bunk does not fold up eather. Why? because the bed is bigger than most and im 6`6" and can sit uprit under the top bunk with room to spare. Only dislikes no window on the top bunk and the cab curtains are not long enough and the fire extinguisher was under the left side of the drivers seat so i was unable to place my foot there.![]()
I drove the Volvo at Roadmasters in WVC, UT. The rest of the trucks I drove where at May Trucking and I drove 2 Internationals. All there trucks are well maintained. the only complaint I have is they gave me a run from WA to FL and each time the miles the payed me for were different even though it was the same exact run. I asked them about it and they just said I dont know and there is nothing i can do about it.

Yeah the Pete is a real dog turning, piss poor fuel mileage too. I'm gonna try to get my hands on a volvo with the D13 w/DEF. That way we will be able to make our fuel mileage bonus. Per mile bonuses are kind of a big deal when you are running team miles.
Made my round trip to Portland, head to Vegas in the morning. Got permission for the wife to ride with me while they hash out the training issue. We are just trying to be patient while they make up their minds on how to go. -
Stareted with Knight on Tuesday. So far so good.

Can some one tell me about knights home time, I called a week ago they told me a 10 to 14 out 2 to 3 days home. On their on line advertiments they say you can choose your home time. They told me no such thing.

If it is on the website then you can do it unless they are providing false advertisement in witch case you can take them to court over it. Talk to a different recruiter some times they one you talked to is just new or might be having a bad day. You can also ask them to ask some on else preferably the head of the location. I plan on running the 11 with 7-10 on and 2 days off.
ktgvermillion Thanks this. -
Do they have a 2 week on 1 week off? This is what I asked about. Also do they let you take the truck home?
-
I on average stay out for 21 days and come home for 2 or 3 off depending on what I need to take care of as far as the home time goes I've never had a problem as long s you run aand you aren't expecting to have everynight off or everyweekend off your dm should work with you my dm is great he's right on top of everything
ktgvermillion and AZ_Equine Thank this. -
when i filled out the paper work there was a form that asked for the address i would be leaving the truck at for home time. it also stated that it had to be a secure location and can not be parked on the street. aswell when i was sitting in the office today one of the dms with permition let a o/o take an mt from the yard and dead head it from his old house to a new house in another state with his belongings in it so he didnt have to rent a uhual.
AZ_Equine and ktgvermillion Thank this. -
Ok thanks I guess the guy I talked to must of not known what he was talking about. I'm hoping to get on with knight in September out of Denver.

Each Knight terminal is kind of like it's own little company. They each have their own way of doing things and home time is definitely one of those things that that varies by terminal. Yes at the larger terminals you can choose otr(out for a long time, home 2/3 days), regional(out 7/10 days home 1/2), express(out7/off7 or out 4/off4), or casual(work when you want home when you don't). At smaller terminals it's just however they run and that's it. Denver Is probably in the later catagory.ktgvermillion Thanks this.
