Ok. Well i'm not a trucker at all and to all you truckers out there you have my complete and total respect. Now on to my question i'm looking for a decent cb cheap keep in mind just to listen to stuff and occasionally use when i'm out driving in an unfamiliar area. I'm looking at a uniden pro series cb here is the model number PC78LTW.
I was wondering if anyone had opinions on it. I also wanted something that could go between the house and the car but i have heard that handheld units aren't the greatest. So if anyone has any ideas on one that i could go between the house and car point me in the direction of it. Keep in mind i want to come in under 50 thats why i mainly am looking at that one. So if anyone has any ideas let me know.

For the money, the 76 and 78's are good little radios. You should be happy with it. No need to spend more money unless you are going to use it everyday. But I would not go to much cheaper. The selectivity goes out the window, along with the durability. Make sure you put a few bucks into the antenna however. It is 90% of your signal.

I'm guessing i would probably use it a few days out of the week for the first year or so and then after taht monday through friday. I'm still debating a handheld unit i just don't like the look of it. I'm wondering is there any way to rig it up to where i could go back and forth between the car and the house with the same radio. Police scanners are more of my specialty i'm just getting into cbs.

Handhelds get bulky once you plug in an antenna. Everytime you use it, you hold up a book in your face. I would stick with the Mobile units. It would not be hard taking your radio in and out of multiple cars. You can plug it into the cig lighter and stick the mag mount on the car and your all set. Plug and play. If you will be in the same car after a while, I would fuse it and run it directly to the battery if at all possible. That clears up engine and alternator noise sometimes.
