I have a 2008 pete with a c15 iv not had the truck to long and im not to sure how the DPF system really works...but i do know it should only regen once a day well so im told..but when im in a hard pull and im guessing it doing its deal my truck will shake really bad more so around 14-1500 rpm i can drop a gear and make it quit shaking but the power is suck right out of me and u can hear it making noice from inside the cab...but i will do this more then once a day more so like i mention on a long hard pull iv done a manual regen on it and it does do better for a while but the first hard pull it will act up and some times it takes a while for it to quit doing it...i have read other post on the dpf and learned some thing one thing i would like to know is does knocking the guts out of the filter and flashing the ecm really work if so im going to really consider doing so!! going from a good old 3406E 600 to this really sucks still have the truck but like the upgrade if i can get it lined out..one more thing to whom ever helps me with my issue the engine is a 475 i am going to turn it up to a 550 would that do the same thing to the ecm that would need to be done if i did bypass the DMF i know all that is done when turning one up is bigger fuel numbers but just wondering if it would take care of the DMF problem too
DPF need info badly!!!!!!!!

Sounds like your DPF may need to be cleaned out manually. How many miles since it has been cleaned?
-
Take it in have it removed and checked for cracks and to have it cleaned Probly past a regen to burn it off needs to have the soot cleaned out by a special machine
-
Sounds like an ARD head to me. Those motors are notorious for going thru numerous ARD heads. Good luck!
-
Yes, the ECM tuning to delete the DPF assembly works. Most people see a fuel mileage increase of 0.5 to 0.7MPG. You eliminated both the ARD head and DPF problems.

I have four of these trucks in our fleet. Three of our trucks make this noise during active regining. This active regins will happen alot while driving like every two hours. If you.
-
You can uprate to a 550 no problem but I dont think its going to completely solve your problem. It may not be doing the most efective regins. Your fuel nozule in your ard head may be getting dirty and may need to be manualy cleaned with cat et using ard heat element cycle.
-
That heat cycle cleaning thing is as useless as there blue liquid crap they used to inject into the port by fuel filter.
You need to get this truck to a good cat guy. Your going to have to throw lots of money at it. The engine is a pos and always will be. The best you can hope for is to just get buy with it. You might want to talk to a PDI dealer.Last edited: Sep 2, 2012

I have cleaned severl inop ard heads and brought them back to life. The engine is not a peice of crap its the stuff bolted to it.
GrowinupMX Thanks this. -
Sorry, when I rant and rave about this engine I get carried away. You are correct , it's the gizmos bolted on to the engine that suck.
