I'm finding a disturbing trend with some companies in regards to their training programs. When a company begins taking in more revenue from their CDL "school" than they do from freight (or whatever they're hauling or delivering) it's time to find another place to work. Not saying Crete falls into this category or not but it's very peculiar when a trucking company claims to hire new grads from their in-house list of "approved" schools but won't accept a grad from a PTDI-approved school not on their cherry-picked list. From an outsider's approach it looks like these situations warrant additional federal oversight/regulations as the potential for widespread abuse (can you say "kickback?") is obvious.

The current requirement is that you must graduate from a 6 month CDL school. I came from a 6 month program and will be getting my own truck in 3 days. 8 weeks with a trainer is a long time.

Appreciate the updated information on Crete. And yea, eight weeks is a long time to live out of a truck with another person. I've seen some companies with post-CDL training as little as three weeks. Not sure I'm getting the gist of your message. Are you saying after a six-month CDL course there are companies that will forgo their own personal training and put you in a truck right out of school, solo? Inspiration, move me brightly!

I'm finishing up my 8 weeks of training after this current 1700 mile run I'm on, then Crete will give me my own truck.
They do get you home for a few days in the middle of the 8 weeks, and the training pay is real good. I have grossed 500 per week plus another $100 one time payment for having a hazmat.900,000-tons-of-steel Thanks this.
