Fuel at $4.09 to $4.15 a gallon ...the brokers will still be offering a 1000 mile load for $900 and the weight will be 45,000 all the while telling you they are doing you a favor offering it to you at that rate ....Dont hold your breath for a good rate...Same old Crap, different day

Maybe where YOU were. Where I was, (Cortland, NY), my phone was blowing up with so-so load offers at 8am, mostly from brokers who thought they knew where 'home' is, based on my area code. I declined what was offered to me, but I selected one off the board too early - $2/mile (loaded and d/h) to Richmond, VA dropping Tuesday morning. In the afternoon while I was waiting to get loaded, I checked the board. Landstar had 6 loads each totaling less than 350 miles from Cortland going East, Southeast and North for $1500 each.

which board was that?
Because mn was showing less than 100 loads for Dryvans. -
lol are we in the same country?!
$4000-4500 after diesel running 2000-2400 miles on the trucks. now part of the reason is my favorite shipper directly freight is getting slamed with orders. he's moving 100 loads a day for the last 2 weeks. today I booked another load with him 300 miles for $1500. poor guy had about 10 loads moved with fedex custom critical on friday because of how time sensitive they were. they had priority loading and jumped line infront of about 30 trucks!
either way, it isn't the busiest everywhere in the country, but it sure started to pickup in most parts. Fellas, start asking more, the more people ask the more they're willing to give. We all know brokers try to move for the cheapest rate possible, but when freight has to go, it has to move regardless of price. I had everything booked on friday but kept an eye on the load boards and wow did prices see a hike after 13:00.. even for what they call back haul lanes. when was the last time you saw a western PA to IN load going for $1000 for dry van? not even hazmat! Jersey to saint louis area for $1700! east coast, NY and PA were flooded with freight.. keep your eyes open in your areas and scan for the regions that have an above average number of freight. Another trick is to post random trucks in areas you're interested in and seeing the number of calls you get throughout the day. the more calls the more hungry they are.
the best time of the year is getting startedrollin coal Thanks this. -
MN never has many loads, but at the same time not many trucks.. I don't like the rates in Minnesota. If I take a load up there I always try to be very close to the WI state line. WI pays very well. I have a broker that hooks me up with small paper rolls out of northern and middle WI and the usual rate is $2.5-$3 and one of them is a 24/7 shipper. nothing wrong with deadheading 150-180 miles for a good load like that.

What kind of annual net income do you guys make? On how many miles? I know these figures are variable from driver to driver, but I am trynig to get a bearing on possible compensation if I go O/O. I am still at least a year from being an O/O, just looking for a few REAL numbers from true, experienced O/O. Thanks for your help and all the info you provide for us new drivers.

Hey Car,
Don't suppose you want to pass on my number to that broker....
you know, in case you can't make it or something lol

It was the IT load board. I use IT to look for loads and OOIDA for posting the truck.
