I grew up before the age of cell-phones and GPS, long before they were on the market. Frankly, I like the free map updates and the up-to-date traffic info the TomTom 740 has. Its very customizable and works with no hitch.
Also, you can review your entire route by map, or text, and the best thing is that it gives audible speed warnings, so you dont have to look at the #### thing while you are driving to know that you are over the speed limit.
The Garmin 465T is a very good unit for trucking, but at my age and skill level, I simply don't need what it has to offer a new driver.
Werner rejected me, lol

Thanks for the welcome, and I definately want to plan it out on paper, I mainly want the GPS for speed checks, double checking route, and for telling me when my turn comes up
Ranger_309 Thanks this. -
im confused your 14 days from having one of your tickets drop if they are only looking for 3 year driving record and your applied now not smart your should have waited until that speeding ticket was on the other side of the 3 year mark

Just keep in the back of your mind,
not to far down the road,
even companies that reject you may go on your drivers report.
Things are changing rapidily for drivers. As the hiring process becomes more complicatd, more drivers are being weeded out.
What happens today, may have a greater effect in just a few short years.
Good Luck,
have you tried saddle creek ? -
this doesn't bode well for me. I just signed up for orientation. I leave for PA on the 23rd.
-
I just got rejected by Werner today. I went through the orientation just fine, have clean records left and right, no drugs, alcohol, or smoking or anything, no criminal records.
Reason? I lack the social skills needed to "represent" Werner. Any companies out there anyone knows of where this kind of thing is more fail safe? -
You are better off starting a new thread rather than responding to a thread almost 2 years old. You may get more feedback.

If you are going to use a GPS in a Commercial vehicle and plan on using it for driving directions, make sure you get one designed for trucking, otherwise, you may find yourself routed under a 9' brige or on a truck restricted road!!
