Greetings, I'm looking to possibly start with May Trucking. The closest place is Phoenix as I live in Los Angeles County. I currently work driving a Water Truck for a renewable energy infrastructure company here locally. The money is really good but the work is ending soon till next Spring. I have a class B (class A permit) with HAZMAT tankers etc. etc. I really need to stay busy and make money. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. This would be my first OTR experience as I have only done "dirt work" Thanks

1st get your class A lic they might want you to go to truck driving school even if you have some exp.but no tractor trailer exp.I started with May a couple of years back.great starter company I started with .30 cpm ran outta pensicola FL. Good luck
-
yeah..i don,t beleive may has a school. call them and seee what school they,d recommend and will they hire you once you finish. from what i,ve read about may seems like a good company to start with. don,t think i like their idling policy though
-
Yeah I got charged $80 for idling that suck but other than that good company to start with.but if you run out of phoenix they idle percentage is higher
-
dont think where you're out of matters, we have higher idle for summer months and then the rest of the year is lower
and yeah, you'd have to get your class A, thru a school most likely like they said above, they probably gonna wanna see the transcripts and everything but call the recruiter they would be able to tell ya better -
There was a recruiter that came to my truck school when I got my class B. She said that when you get your class A you can come to Phoenix for an orientation so I'm assuming my school is accredited for May Trucking. Wow this whole idling thing sucks. Any other suggestions for Trucking Co?

Ok it must have changed .

I just left May in Feb. Good starter co and I was out of Pensacola too but lived in Sacramento/Oregon. No they dont have a truck school so get your class A. They always let me idle the whole year I was there but I idled when it was needed for air cond, heat. (bunk heater was broken but got it fixed). you just have to notify your DM with hours idle, date. location and reason. They always credited me. Every so often there was a problem, forgot to credit etc...Just keep good record of it. I always wrote that stuff on the back of my trip sheets so I could reference it.
They always kept me rolling when I did 48 and 11. You will make more on 48 but I couldnt stand the East, no offense. Good Luck!ghettochild Thanks this. -
As long as you send in an idle request you won't get charged if you can't remember to send one in well then you'll get charged if you go over. Good starter company get your then leave or if you like working here stay.

Yall right about sending it in but I didn't..like I said may is great starter company.
