I have been thinking about getting one of these myself. If I may ask, are you guys buying them or leasing them? If leasing, what is the payment? And how much do they require down? And is there an install cost or is that figured into the price/lease?

oscar, i got mine right mine in january. had it done at boomer diesel in okie city, 7 hour install. thats all they do is apu and genrator units on buses and rv.

my price was 8500 installed but that was with the 900 dollar shorepower option. i only have used that at the mercer yard. my payment for 2 years is about 500 a month , its a lease with a 800 dollar buyout. i save about 1200 a month in fuel after i make the payment. i absolutely love this thing , it does a very good job for me.

ooida members have guranteed approval, i didnt pay anything down, and the price includes install.

This website has a lot of good info on the STEP program and a map of current and coming shore power locations. Soon to be 150 locations nationwide. I know there's a couple of new ones on the Florida TPK that are not listed. I used to use the one pictured in Jubitz truck stop and I think it was about $1.50 an hour. Shore power is very easy to have rigged up in your bunk, with or without the APU. Had a rooftop unit and very quiet Honda EU3000 gen set on the frame like an APU is mounted. Usually the truck next to me didn't hear the genset running. Only downfall was gas powered. Yeah, I was that guy carrying the 2 5 gallon gas cans across the parking lot! Couldn't bring myself to spend the 10k for an APU, but $500 a month is a whole 'nother thing.

Well a new problems has plauged my APU for the last week or so. The radiator mounts give out. I was lucky enough to aquire a leaking radiator out of the deal. Finally got the parts from Dynasys. They sent way to many parts to fix it and couldn't readily tell me how to install the update. Trying to figure out a puzzle with too many of some parts and not enough of others and just the right number of others can be very confusing. Together we finally got it figured out. All these little issues are adding up. But I still wouldn't want to be without it. Just a heads up keep an eye on your radiator and if you have to go in for service work call and ask about the updated kit for this issue.

Radiator mounts, Bad Capacitor for the 110v generator. Nothing serious and all under warranty. Just a pain in the ### at times.

    Allan M Thanks this.

I just put a Dynasys on my Volvo 730. It's as quiet as a Thermo King and it cools very well. My only problem was the touchscreen of the CCU doesn't always register when I am trying to use the arrows. It beeps but it takes several taps to get the numbers to change.
I had mine done at Big Rig Truck Accessories in New Braunfels Texas. I also live 3 miles for the main office.

Hi ! Don't get here often, but saw this and wanted to ask you something. You had an actual Pony Pack APU ? I have one, and wonder what you thought of yours ? I'm looking at buying a Dynasys , also. I have a 2006 W900. The under bunk unit will fit, barely, but I lose that storage space. Also, I run thru the Rockies in the Winter, how does the Dynasys do on heat?
    Thanks,

I'm 51 years old and can honestly say that the Pony Pack APU is by far the worst purchase that I have ever made in my life. I fought to keep that pos running for 3.5 years and finally threw in the towel and got it removed and replaced with a Dynasys. I assume that your story must be similar or else you wouldn't be looking at Dynasys yourself. Rex Greer thinks that he has no responsibility to Pony Pack customers because you bought it from a dealer and not directly from him. He says that any truck dealership can work on it but go ahead and try and find one that will. I had to carry around my own guages and R134a because the A/C sprung leaks so often. No customer support at all.
