Hey man, these auto shifts has let all sorts of seatwarmers and dumbarse idiots behind the wheel of the big trucks. It's not a positive thing! The manual shifts took some time to get used to and learn, and that descuraged allot of people that don't belong in this industry.

Me too!! Hahahaha
-
That's true but there is a shortage of drivers over there ( or so the propaganda says ) and those seats need filling so the best way way is probably get autos so the fuel mileage stays respectable and you don't get your gearbox back in a bucket once a week -
Yeah, and the modern day trucker knows only the door hadle, the steering wheel and the bed about the truck he or she drives. They have no idea what makes that thing go down the road.
-
The idiots are coming regardless.
Rather they are not distracted more than need be by having them concentrating on shifting.
Not that shifting is that difficult.Scania man Thanks this. -
The Volvo manual shift ain't nice, it's cable and can be stiff compared to a Scania , also the gearstick is as big as my leg lol
-
It's PROPAGANDA more then anything else! Unemployment at a record high everywhere in the world, and yeah, "there's a shortage of drivers".....maybe shortage that think that this job it's only done for fun!.....then they're stuck in that crummy cab for a couple of months at the time and......there goes the revolving door at the recruitment office where recruiters are screaming that there's a "shortage of drivers".
Been around for a long time and seen allot of things, but what's going on with this industry n'our days it's a travesty!Scania man Thanks this. -
Maybe Y'all should try a two stick, a 5 & 4 speed direct mash and then complain about the air assist clutch pedal, a fully synchro trany with a stick containing ergonomically placed electrical selectors and all that! What say you?
-
Hahaha no thanks, here I am complaining about a gearshift that's slightly stiffer to use, jayzus I've just realized how spoilt we are lol
-
I think that all truck drivers need to pass a test on a dual stick 5&4 direct mash with a stiff clutch pedal, with 80k lbs GVW, no jakes, 250 bhp engine going up and down the grapevine pass or cabage, or 4th of July, or Donner pass, pik your fancy, before they get a commercial driver's license (CDL) and a job driving a big truck long distance!
