Close, but no cigar.
Unless things have changed in the past 2 years, Stevens does NOT charge up front for the DOT physical. It is payroll deducted. Im not sure about the CDL permit fee as I already had my CDL.
But that is excellent advise about being TOTALLY honest regarding the background and medication issues.

Last I heard that law was put on hold. I dont know if it still is or not.

I paid those same fees before entering into a CDL course at a third-party driving school. You have to have a DOT physical before applying for your permit, and the permit fees are payable to the state.
That's nice that Stevens takes care of that, but what do they do if you flunk that first DOT physical? -
I dunno... But I know that they took that physical out of my check for a while. Luckily I passed it so I didnt have to worry about that.

So... when you can't manage to deal with driving el-trucko, what do they do? You owe em' for the physical, the permit... there's those wages. How about you get your DAC trashed?
At Prime, yeah, you have to come up with the physical and permit costs yourself... you get real food and a bed paid for, you get a week of real on the-road experience to decide if this is even a deal you want to continue with (no foul, no collection agents) - they'll advance you money to live on (so you don't starve on the road) - and then once you have your CDL in hand, you're an employee. Oh, yeah... there's none of that deduction stuff for that "free tuition" either. You just drive for a year and its wiped off of the books. Entirely.
Now I'm not saying this is for everyone, nor even that it works in all cases... but its a pretty good deal. -
Like I said, I passed everything so I didnt have to worry about the "what ifs...". As for the other comments, its Stevens vs Prime... Ford vs Chevy... Beans in chili vs no beans...

You must have a computer and internet service to post this.
How are you paying for that? -
@bigjoel , I am using my sisters pc if you must know.

I spoke with a recruiter from Stevens and a school in Texas does require you to have an address in the state due to the new laws .

My advice to you is you would need some spare change for eating,or personal things i would not going to any training until save some money,so for right now start saving some and then look for training(my opinion).long_run Thanks this.
