Things are well for me. As a company solo I was running 2800-3200 miles per week. As an owner op it was 3000+ unless I was on hometime. As a trainer I run between 4500 and 5200. Home time is 1 day per week but you have to be out at least 9 days to get a day off. Also they will try to jip you out of hometime by saying you got home on the 4th when you got there at 11:30pm and try to count that as a day. Just say no I get so many hours off.
That is a bit off subject, sorry. KW is right you need to be out 4-6 weeks to make any money. You can take up to 4 days off at a time so a lot of drivers will stay out 4 weeks and then take 4 days off. As an owner op I can do what ever I want as long as I make my truck payment so I typically go out for 6 weeks and then take a week off.
Hope that helps.

How long was it before you started seeing good mileage regularly? I'm comfortable with making my runs now, but circumstances keep screwing me up, truck pm, having to get new tags, stuck on a sgut down turn pike for over 4 hours... Oh, and DM got sick for a bit. But when I'm running I'm always early it just seems like too much time is on my load. Had two days on a 240 mile trip the other day and the customer wouldn't budge on the appt! Best I've had was about 2600 miles but I know I can run more. Just keep running everything on time and it will come? My 2nd time home since school is tomorrow but I'm pretty impatient! I can't stand sitting still...

I hear you. I can not stand sitting. I started getting good miles after about 2months. After that it was as I said above. You and your dm are still getting to know eachother and your dm is trying to figure out how hard you can/want to be ran. Every day I would send a mac 01 similar to this, "Happy mon Jim! I ran 2500 miles last week, thank you for throwing those to me. It was very easy to do if you have some more miles you need help with I would be more than happy to take any additional miles you have to offer." Basicly keep it positive, but do get a little anoying so he will want the little bird to go away. At Central it's true the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but if there is a nice squeak it will get the grease before the cranky "Why don't I have miles
" squeak. Hope that helps.
Also on that 240 mile load before you send in an 11 get on the qc with your DM saying there are way too many hours on this load, please find me a drop location and another load. This does not always work, but it atleast lets him know what is going on. Sometimes the load planners and dm's don't communicate and all your dm pays attention to is that you have a load and your pta is 2 days out, if you don't tell him there is an issue he wont know there is one, maybe there is family on route and you were planning to stay overnight or something like that he does not know.DocWatson and Arkansas Frost Thank this. -
10-4, appreciate the good advice here. The flip side of that bad load was there was a 700 and a 400+ load set up back to back behind it so that I could get home on time. Things are going well and I'm sipping on a cold beer. After a few days of this and riding in the heat on my Harley, I'll be more than ready to knock out some more miles! Putting your suggestions to use as soon as i get back in the driver's seat. See y'all out there!

Guys this has been very informative thread. It has confirmed that Central is the way to go to get my CDL.
The recruiter I talked to said that since I have been unemployed for about two years they would not talk to me.
For every one: The do not allow unemployment for more than a year.Rick_C Thanks this. -
Thats easy to fix. Go get a job at McDonald's you are no longer unemployed.
