I am starting my second week at pleasant hill with them so far so good 4 me. All 90% of their trucks r 2012 or newer. Hotel has been worst part lol All drivers I have talked with said they strictley make u run by the book and if you get caught they will set u with no pay and reyrain u on logging. Most drivers I have talked with have been here many years and very happy so I am hoping 4 the best lol

Good luck to you, I'm sure my experience was outside the normal routine. Don't think you are going to get one of those nice new prostars when you get done with training. MTL has issued out all the remaining ProStars in the fleet. They are not buying anymore right now and are actually testing Freightliners and Macks (I saw both at Cuba). There are drivers that have been there for awhile still driving the 9200's . You'll get a prostar as people quit and turn them in. DOn't get me wrong, I'm not bashing MTL, I'm sure its a great company. THey have some good people that work there. I just had a bad experience with them.

I hate to state the obvious, but here goes.

So you're saying that quitting without a true explanation was displaying a better "attitude" than going to the higher ups with legitimate concerns? Sorry, I'm not seeing it.

I think you wound up screwing yourself. For all you know, MTL would have fired the guy responsible in the shop for the poor maintenance, and then they may even have rewarded you something back in return (for all your frustration), like a newer/better truck for example.

At the very least, you'd be on the road as being a "problem solver" with the company rather than just some newbie who quit without an explanation. And even though you may not have seen a reward, they won't forget about how you HELPED the company by your input.

If they didn't do a thing for you, THEN that was the time to quit. But you didn't give TPTB (the powers that be) a chance to make amends.

If you don't mind me asking, where do you work now with weekends off? I might try them myself.

When a company flaunts their religion...run run far away...that's usually a good sign they're crooked because they're hiding behind religion to mask it all...just look at covenant transport for instance.

I work for mtl andeverything that driver said is true.U have to run illegal all the time to get your loads to the customer on time, there is no by the book.As far as the shop goes all those guys are lazy and worthless you would have better luck fixing it yourself. You can go to the higher ups it does no good

the best you will do with mcelroy is about 2300 on a good week, reason being just about every shipper we have to go to it takes no less than 3 hours to get loaded. When you start out in the morning you are at your customer you have to get unloaded, after getting unloaded you have to deadhead to where ever get loaded again and make it to your next customer to be ready to be unloaded by 7am.If your not hustling it will eat your clock up real fast, and remember everything has to be tarped.Did I mention the trucks only run 62 mph.So your ave.speed might be 55 mph

I completely agree...some of theses co's just can't dispatch and/or don't give a crap about the regs and expect the drivers to break the law to cover their butts...
