Congrats on getting your trainer..Good to hear things going good for you..I have a question and its open to everyone.Question is how did you guys transition from being home everyday to being away from home?
And also how do you handle the driving transition of day to evening night time and night driving through morning??

You just kind of .... do it. In our case, I was well aware, for at least the first few years of our marriage, that my husband could get called back into service if his MOS was needed. Fortunately, the Army had enough tank mechanics. As for him being away, the hardest part is when things blow up...like the washing machine, or the hot water heater. Pretty much everything else, including the cows, I can handle. The increased pay (for us, even during training) helped. WE never had any issues getting him home for important and/or serious issues. I know that isn't always the case. Birthdays, hot water heater replacement, big gymnastics meets. He didn't miss a one. He was here to hold my hand when the news came down about a devastating family illness. It's that illness that precipitated our exit from Prime. Nothing against Prime, but I've seen him more in the last 2 months than I did in the previous 12, combined. He's closer to home, in general, and when he's needed, he's home within a few days at most. I'm currently watching him sleep as he's leaving for Ft. Worth at about 2am. But he came home to shore up the floor under the hot water heater that collapsed the day before yesterday. We had a late lunch/early dinner together after dropping off the gymnast at practice, came home and he fixed the floor.

The day/night transition is rough, to say the least, but you gotta do what you gotta do. It helps to catch power naps whenever you can.

Thanks for the advice. I am trying to make sure my old lady is good with the fact that i'll be gone alot for the beginning but she comes from a family of trucker drivers so i'm sure she'll adjust ok.We use to do long distance relationship for three yrs so this should be a piece of cake or at least she should treat it like that for right now.

Once I get back into the swing of being up at night I should be okay (worked third shift and swing shift for 6 yrs)

Just understand that you may swing from first shift to third shift to 2nd shift and back again, in the same week.

I would think you would not have to drive thru the night with flatbed as much as refer if that is a route you wanted to take. If you are looking at the extra 5cent for the light weight truck i suppose it could be possible to have a lw on the flatside and be able to get 5 extra cents a mile.
Flatbed is something i rather not do because of more danger involved the heavier the load is you have to tie down. I rather leave that to the guys that are not afraid to do it. I will be going refer if i am accepted, because it is what i did before with a different company.

So i have been reading a lot about the sleep study/sleep apnea issue. Does anyone know what the qualifications or Dis-qualifications for this or better yet what is this being based on for having to do a sleep study test?
