Go with Schneider. Notice, they are the biggest, but are not on the lists presented. OTR trucking is hard period, but many drivers new to the industry mix up the company issues with the job itself. The industry is hard to get used to. The work itself and being away from home are tough on people not used to it. They think they made the right decision to go in to trucking, but just picked the wrong company so they quit and go to another company and then another until they realize the part that is hard is the same in all of the companies. Then they quit trucking. Go with Schneider. You will still have the hard work and the lonely parts of the job, but they will be the best place for you to start and stay. You however won't realize that until you quit them and go on to some other company because you don't understand it is the nature of the job that is tough. Not the company you chose. Good Luck
Freeform, Deadjester, BigRedBigRig and 5 others Thank this. -
I fully agree with this. I too have done exhaustive research and Prime is in my top 3. That's for team driving though, so keep that in mind.

As soon as someone has a bad experience that company becomes the "worst" to them...
"Worst" is a matter of opinion based on experience, and some hearsay...I know happy people at all three of those companies mentioned and I've met unhappy ones there as well...48Packard, Dieselten77 and Freezer Burn Thank this. -

They are always taking newbies or least the terminal in Ohio is. See the reply to 216Angel.

Wanted to jump in the thread.
Just got out of school and have my CDL. I have preHires from Werner, Schneider, Swift, Central Refrig, EPES, and Roehl. (Turned down by McElroy and TMC because I live just outside their hiring areas.) Assuming I would be pretty successful in getting preHires from most OTR van companies. EPES was recommended to me. And Roehl seems like a driver-friendly company ... especially like the fact that during their training period they do not set up the student/trainer as team drivers. Instead they only operate 14 hours a day. That tells me a lot and I was using that as a "standard" by which to judge other companies. Of course, being able to log long OTR hauls would be attractive (compared to many short distance deliveries).
Any thoughts out there on who to go with? Others I should apply to? -
