Im thinking of becoming an O/O but i hear alot of negative feed back about it. Particularly the output you have to pay when truck breaks and just to make enough to stay afloat. Os it worth it? And would you do it again, knowwhat you knpw now?

nope better to work at jack in the box as a fry cook.....maybe one day you can wear the headset at the drive thru.....honestly you will work twice as hard but i would never drive a company truck again

Yes , for me is was worth it financially but the way I did it ruined my health .
    Would I do it again?
Yes if I had no better opportunities , I'm looking for the easier road now.

I will tell you like I would tell anyone I don't suggest anyone become an O/O but I would not do it any other way !

I also would never recommend trucking to anyone else but I would never do anything else myself .

Its always worth it to own your own business mostly all of the big the trucking companies started as a one or two truck show.If they didnt take the risk they would probably be company drivers still. It always worth it to go on your own even if you fail its nothing like having your own.I have had one good business and one failed business and i wouldnt change a thing. When i get my first truck my goal is to own 500 or more trucks i see it like this if someone else did it why cant i.But if i end up only owning 50 is that a failure? not in my book.Their are thousands of company drivers about to retire that always wanted to be o/o's but never did it. Dont let that be you its hard to live with regret.

If you ever opt to own a rig...you need a big bank account or one breakdown and your OUT OF BUSINESS.
They recommend a $20k maint fund before starting out, but that's not to say others haven't done it with much less.

    YMMV...
