I started with tango in april bi mistake all the loads are 98% paper and scrap they are a lot drop and hook but if you have to bring in scrap paper to one of the mills and they will be a least a 3 to 4 hour wait and sometimes when the mill is back up you will be there all day and maybe all night too before you can get your next load out. They charge you for cargo ins..$44 and then they will charge you $50 for a performance bond untill you reach $1500...98% of the loads are over 42,000 not much of a fuel discount maybe 0.02 and they fuel surcharge is not enough for those heavy loads,no busneiss or matentaince support only one person run the roadservice breakdown it will be hours for someone to call you back. As a owner-op trying to make money i wouldn't lease on with them i terminted my lease this week.

Yes most of the loads are paper, which means they are heavy. Sorry to hear things did not work out for you. I have been with Tango for 7 years as a owner operator. If you sent a Macro 14 on the qual comm (charged $12.50/week for Q/C) after waiting for one hour, you will be getting detention pay that starts on the third hour and ends when you send in your empty call. I personally have made quite a bit on detention time while I take a cat nap at the mills :biggrin_255:.
Tango does not charge for cargo insurance. The $44 you are referring to (actually it's $40.38/week) is for occ/acc (occupational/accident) Insurance that is required by the state of LA. Don't know what they charge for bob tail liability because I carry my own as well as my own comprehensive coverage and collision.
The fuel discount is pump cash price plus .02 per gal. at TA, Loves, Pilot, Flying J. As an owner op you can fuel at any location you wish that takes com data (charge is $1.00 per use) or use your own credit card or cash (do not have to fuel at previous mentioned) and at any time that suits you or that will "fit" in the books:biggrin_2559:. Granted, it does make it a pain in the booty for fuel taxes when using cash or credit card and having to deal with the "fuel tax lady".
The only time I have had a problem with breakdown is on the weekends when they all go home or go fishing:biggrin_255:. However, they do not supply discounts for parts or labor nor do they supply the owner operators with breakdown services. Breakdown is for their own equipment (trailers and company trucks). They will try and give you a number to someone who can help you out when your down on the roadside. All charges are between you and whomever you call.
Example: T/A charged me $750.00 for a blown steer tire in Terrell, Texas including service call. What made me mad about it was the fact that I was sitting on the get-on ramp after I had just left the T/A parking lot. Less than a 1/4 mile from T/A shop:biggrin_25510:. The same tire I can get for $400.00 mounted and balanced at a local dealer where I live. Oh well, they know you aint agoin nowheres with out it:biggrin_25525:. Just had to suck it up and pay up. Or take the tire and roll it 100 miles to home town and back.

As far as business support goes, last time I dealt with a company that "provided" business support (for a price I might add), it dang near put me in bankruptcy. My wife, kids and grandkids could do a better job than these so called "business" support teams.
Revenue for week as of my settlement dated 8-12-10
$1.17 loaded mile (includes fuel surcharge)
    $00.90 empty mile

    Loaded Miles: 2599
    Empty Miles: 305
    Toll Reimbursements: $44.00
    Scale Reimbursements: $18.00
    Detention: $5.00 (15 min detention)

    Charges:
Fuel: $1,421.50 (this amount also includes some help for a fellow driver that needed some help)
Advance Fee: $4.00 ($1.00 charge per use of com data card for fueling)
    Qual Comm: $12.50
    Occ/Acc Insurance: $40.38

    Gross Pay: $3,320.33

Also, they do not charge for plates or permits and they pay any and all lumper fees, which is a plus in my opinion.

I'm glad you posted this, I'm loading in Natchez right now heading for North Carolina heading home, and I was gonna get my settlement and post some numbers like you did. Why does everyone think we are suppose to haul 25k pound freight??? I get my fair share of light loads, I had two this week.....18k from laredo,tx to atlanta then 5k from columbus,oh to mesquite,tx.
Of course if you want to be home every weekend then yes you will run nothing but the paper mill's.

    keepntruckin Thanks this.

Cash pump price plus .02 cents is a fuel discount? A fuel discount better be less than cash pump price. My fuel card not my carriers (I have my own card) discounts range from .03 to .15 cents below pump cash price. Btw my card is Fleet One through OOIDA. If you're paying cash price plus.02 cents you're paying for your fuel and paying Tango for nothing. At the major chains you mentioned I guarantee Tango is paying less than cash price. Sounds like Tango is making easy money.
