No matter which city you are in, all you will hear on the CB is "Obama sucks", or someone yelling a racist remark, singing, asking for a radio check, selling their old CB, making dumb sounds, how 4 wheelers cant drive, playing music, etc. It is weird that grown men act silly on the CB. It was a letdown as in trucking school they teacher made it seem like truckers always have good conversations on the CB but maybe he was stuck in the 70's or something.
I leave my CB off most of the time now

or he likes talking #### about Obama...
(my cb has been switched off for weeks now & I don't miss it. For every 1 time it came in handy, there were 100 times I had to turn it off because mr 50w echobox wanted everyone in a 60 mile radius to know he stained his pink panties...)Honch Thanks this. -
I keep mine on when driving just in case something comes up. However when parked I turn it off. Though I admit sometimes I turn it on to get a few laughs.
DrtyDiesel, Knotme, 123456 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I run a Memphis-Nashville turn every night M-F via I-40. While, I agree 100% about all the trash talk, my cb stays ON the whole trip. I keep it turned down, but there are way too many wrecks and construction projects going on. I have tried to contact trucks will no lights, smoking tires and brakes, loose tiedowns, bear reports, etc. Sometimes they have it on, and somtimes not. I want to know if my equipment has problems.

all anyone has to do is set the squelch and RF gain so that another driver has to be pretty close to you to break through. there are too many uncontrollable factors with this job and a driver with no radio on in my opinion is almost as much a danger as the obstacles we face with each and every inch of asphalt that is covered.
if you have your windows up and sat radio blaring the trucker channel, well that blowout you had on your passenger inner tandem 20 miles back is now smoking and you have no idea because you chose to turn your radio off and its dark outside and you cant see the smoke.
what really pisses me off is i can go for miles and miles and never hear a peep on the radio. then come across some stopped traffic, and man that radio comes to life. i heard about the accident, i went an alternate route, and i am the one keying the mic telling everyone that if they had the radio on, they would have heard about the upcoming delay, they would have been able to use an alternate route to keep moving. hows that sitting in traffic doing for your EOBR now?passport220 Thanks this. -
Don't worry it is exactly the same in Australia, but most of the #### comes from the local boys so most of us just turn it off about 50km fom the capitals and you miss most of the crap. Too much #### going on out there too be all alone all the time

I agree with Tricky Rick... I was in Colorado about two weeks ago with a loos pig tail connection, at about 5:30 am a call came over the cb "Big Truck pulling in to Kit Carson, your trailer lights are blink off every now and then" Thank You Driver... I keep it turned down, but I keep it on.

I never bought a CB. I know a lot of drivers who complain that's a safety hazard, but I disagree. If you are paying attention, not tailgating, keep an eye on your mirrors, and do a walk-around at every stop, then no CB is not an issue.
Though I am sure there will be even more posters who claim it is.Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
You need your CB on, or youwill miss out on a lot of lot lizards.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Then suddenly out of the blue, there is a backup and not one driver has mentioned it.
What good was the radio then?
I will take the peace and quiet unless I am running with someone.Giggles the Original Thanks this.
