Thank you for the compliment. We had to leave also for a delivery in Wisconsin then 100 miles empty to hometime for a family wedding. We did not make the BBQ.Wedge Thanks this.

Target out of Lugoff sc. Its fairly new, we started in may. Its a good deal when they keep you moving but i havnt been getting any good miles in about 3-4 months now...
Outlawd19 Thanks this. -
I can tell you the single bunk ones have no power, no storage, and no leg room on the drivers side. The one that I have been in that a couple had with double bunks looked kind of cramped, but had quite a bit of storage, but judging by Craig & Anne's blog, not enough for them.
Just read further.. Good that you guys got everything sorted out and are liking the new truck. -
I will be upgrading tomorrow in Springfield, OH. I am supposed to be going to the Dollar General account, which I don't mind, the physical work is ok with me. I'd like decent home time, but at the same time I'd like to make good money to provide for my family. I also like driving/traveling lol. -
Thanks for the input on the Prostar. I'm thinking we'll be ok with the space in them, if anything (and I never thought I'd be saying this about any USX truck) we might miss the power that we have in this Cascadia. Ours has the Cummins motor and believe it or not, coming out of California on Friday night, I was passing trucks on the hills between Bakersfield and Barstow grossing out at 79,720!
It took them most of the day Friday to get us loaded. We ended up with one out of Mendota going to Gray Court, SC, 2470 miles, stacked with a load out of Rural Hall, NC going to Kent, WA for another 2853 miles. WooHoo! I love not having worry about what we're going to be doing for a few days.
We were told we would be getting the new truck in Markham, we'll be going right by there on the way to WA, so I guess we'll find out about that tomorrow.
Still loving life, hope everyone else is as blessed! -
Had a talk with my trainee and he seems to be improving ever so slightly.
Sitting at the J in Hubbard, OH. We have a del appt for 0730. Then we pu and del near Detroit. Looks like I may be dropping this guy off in Springfield.
My home time is scheduled for 10/03 so not sure if I want to pu another student. We'll see. I kind of could use some alone time, plus I'd hate to make someone sit in a motel while I'm partying (my 50th birthday). -
Hey guys, hope all is well out there. I've been trying to write this post a few times from my phone but it got too long and I fell asleep each time so now that Im on my laptop, here goes lol...
Disclaimer: Im a very very easy going and patient guy. Im not one to complain or get upset HOWEVER I do have a breaking point as I am human.
I seated my truck on Sept 13th after spending almost a full 6 weeks in training (just found out that my first cdl school loan payment didn't get paid bc i was still in training so I got to make that payment out my pocket but it didn't bother me).
They told us to put in our hometime request as soon as we got in our truck and I did just that. I asked to be home Sept 20 at noon because I had to be in child support court at 9am on the 21st. My FM sent me a msg asking what day was my court date so he could be sure to have me home the day before so I confirmed with him that I needed to be there the 20th court on the 21st.
I pulled away from Irving on Wednesday morning (seated truck on Tuesday) and headed for the NE which Im guessing is where they send all the newbies. That Friday evening my DriverTech started messing up, I can't read my msgs and I can't see my macros or send any so everything i do is by phone which you all know how hard it is to get someone on the phone in less than 10 mins on hold. A few days out from needing to be home, I had a fault come up on the truck for the ACB so I let my FM and breakdown know and they said I needed to get into a shop or dealership for it. My FM said he could route me to Colton to get it fixed (I was in MO at the time
) so I'm guessing all the terminals around me couldn't fix it, I needed to go all the way to the end of the country to get it done and be back in Little Rock, AR for court... I don't see that one happening... So I decided I would deal with it after my home time.
The day before I need to be home, Im in Toledo, OH where I dropped my load that was heading to PA and they have me a PP picking up in MI and going farther north in MI...WTH! That's going the wrong way! So I declined the load and waited for my FM to come in that morning and talked to him about it. He then sent me to Battle Creek, MI to get an MT and go another 100 miles to get loaded then deliver in Champaign, IL. Then pick up a load in Mt. Vernon, IL going to Canton, MS that would get me home and they would repower it along the way. The load in Mt. Vernon didn't pick up until 11:45pm on the 19th so I asked to get it early. I got there to pu and they were still loading the trailer so I bobtailed up the road to the Pilot and took my 10. As soon as my break was up, I ran got the load and hit the HWY headed to Little Rock. I pulled out at 4am and drove 7 hours straight, dropped my trailer by my parents house and bobtailed up to the court house in Benton, AR. I got there at 11am, they had already set an amount for my child support and was filling out the paperwork for a failure to appear bench warrant!!
I had started calling my FM at 8am EST while I was on my way in for court to find out where I needed to drop that load I had since it was set to del in Canton MS at 10:45 that night. It would have been easy to drop in Memphis or Olive Branch or in Little Rock at our Global lot or Fright Systems (a huge USX contractor). The first time I called, he accidentally answered and I listened for about 5 to 10 mins of him and a coworker talk about their family as Im screaming hello hello to no avail. Then I hung up and called back, and when it would ring, it sounded like someone answered and hit a couple of keys to ignore the call and I got the onhold music again. Then it rang some more and hung up. I called a third time and got the same onhold music, ring a few times, then hung up. So I said to hell with it and I went on in to court.
After court I called and called and called and no one would answer the FM line. So then I called the fleet owner and he told me he would work on a repower but to go ahead and head to Canton...
I asked him if I should drive the 130 miles back to Memphis and catch 55 south so that way it would be easier to get a repower setup or should I take the route through the country. He told me to follow the route solution... which is through the country... my blood is really boiling by this point. I had spent a hundred bucks to take all my kids to the annual salt bowl game (my high school rival game that they play at War Memorial stadium in Little Rock). Plus I hadnt seen my boys in a couple of months since I started driving, I don't get them every other weekend like I use to. So I saw them all of 10 mins after court and then had to leave.
So my blood boiling, Im so pissed Im driving in total silence trying to convince myself not to call them back and tell them where they can find there truck and load and where they all can go. I called my FM again and he told me he might have a solution and to give him a few minutes and he would call me back. I told him, I only have 4 hours on my clock, it's a 5 hour drive and if I get too far, I won't be able to get back home plus my 70 is gone and I'm only getting 4 hours back at midnight which won't be enough to get me back home. He says, don't worry, he will call me back...
I get a few miles out from Memphis and still no call so I called him again. He tells me that him and his supervisor have been working on it and just can't come up with a repower and that I will need to del the load. Im biting my tongue by this point and afraid to say anything because I really want to cuss him up and down by now. Then he says, my sup is right here if you want to talk to him so I say yes, please let me speak to him. I tell him that I think this whole situation is messed up and he says he knows but there is nothing they can do. I told him that I don't have the hours to del on time and he said yeah but if you don't have the hours to del, you don't have the hours to get home either so you need to deliver the load as soon as you can and then I'm authorizing them to deadhead you home 300 miles. Also they are giving me 2 more days to be home since they were 2 days late getting me there AND if I want to stay longer than 4 days to just him know and he would take care of it.
By now, there is nothing you can offer me to make me happy other than telling me you are going to pay for 260 miles I drove to get to court and then back to memphis to deliver this load ontop of the 300 miles to get home from canton. I called the Director of Solo Operations too while I was on my way to Memphis and left him a message so hopefully he will call me tomorrow. I want a new FM and I need to get to Irving to get my computer fixed or they can pay my phone bill. Oh my FM tried to tell me he was having a hard time getting me a load to Little Rock because there is just not a lot of fright going to Little Rock. Well ah, get me a load going through Little Rock, it's not rocket science! All I've seen since I've been home is USX trucks all over the place and every time I see one I get pissed all over again!
Well that's my rant... All was good until I #### near had a warrant for my arrest because some FM couldn't get me routed home in 9 days. -
