You'll need to find a regional carrier for that sort of schedule. Can't help anymore than that without knowing where you live.

GyrrwrLori is right; you will need a carrier with regional or local opportunities.
Here are two places to check : Gotruckers.com & Thetrucker.com
Also google : truck driver jobs (this is free service. fill out online application with each website and they will send application to all companies that fit your need)

From what I've read so far LTL or regional is the only way to go.

I think you are looking for Fantasy Land Trucking. They want people fresh out of school. They offer great home time and the pay is the highest in the industry. With Fantasy Land you do not have to start at the bottom and work your way up. They get their insurance from a co company Fantasy Land Insurance and they do not have to pay the higher rates.

As a newbie, you have to pay your dues. Start with a company, any company. Get some experience. Next year at this time try to find a company more suited to your lifestyle. You are much more likely to succeed in trucking if you plan on the first year being a challenge.

Most companies say they won't hire newbies, but in reality, some, not all, take it on a case by case basis. It's just word of mouth. I know, some companies will hire a newbie if he or she is very cleancut, present themself well, give a good interview, pass a road test. I've seen this several times with companies I've worked for that advertised "must have 2 years experience."

What I am trying to tell you is that the trucking industry has one of the highest turn over rates in the business. It also has one of the highest divorce rates. Those come from people piping sand up your as s about how great things are going to be once you sign this lease or pay us for school or what ever. You can be very happy as the wife of a trucker or a trucker but only if you are prepared for what lies ahead.

Trucking is both an easy and a hard job. It pays well and also sucks as far as pay goes. It is a great way to raise a family and then again not so.

You have to be prepared to work harder or smarter then those of us already do so. I would recommend trying to out work me.

Driving down the road, backing up to a dock, running the paper into the office, waiting. All of these things are very easy. It takes some getting use to but it isn't really difficult work. Not a lot of jobs out there that pay as well. $50,000 plus is very do able. If you start young and put 15% in a 401 K or IRA, you can be worth $3 million in 25 years.

Or you can spend your money and be in a place where you have an $16,000 Harley that sits because you can afford a $300 fuel pump.

Your "trucker" is going to be gone a lot. He is going to come home tired and you are going to want him to pay attention to you. There are going to be days he just doesn't want to. You can become strangers. What you have to do is work at the relationship. You have to do that knowing what the problems will be. Bouncing down the road does damage to a persons body. Make your money, invest it, and retire young.

Or go to Vegas and put your money on 27 red. One spin, everything.
