A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was one of several people involved in a crash on Interstate 75 early this morning that killed two people and shut down northbound travel along the interstate.
An 18-wheeler loaded with live poultry struck a truck being used by contractors for Tennessee Department of Transportation who were placing reflectors on a section of I-75, just north of exit 33 in Charleston.

Oh man, this is not going to go well for the rest of us. TN has lost too many troopers to truck drivers this year.
NavigatorWife and mamamullins Thank this. -
Ah man. Those construction workers do work very close to the line, one little sway of the wheel can easily hit them even if you are going the construction speed limit.
keepntruckin, NavigatorWife and mamamullins Thank this. -
And those lights they put out for working at night ... it seems that they are always pointed at oncoming traffic ... lanes get narrow ... then you're on the shoulder ... someone moves a cone a little bit farther into the traffic lane ... blinded by the lights ... guess that's why they lower the speed limit.

Sad. I feel for them all. They all have dangerous lines of work!
mamamullins Thanks this. -
If the construction limit is 45, do 35. Most of the time it only lasts about five or six minutes anyway. It surely isn't worth killing other people and yourself. Some people are still illiterate in 2012 also, sad but true.

MOST poeple dont even come close to following the construction speed limit....
now going to read the article.... -
how sad....you know ...words just dont cut it when there is a loss of life....so many accidents....prayers for those left behind...altho i feel like a broken record saying that...

I feel so bad for the families who lose their loved ones, because all they are doing is trying to take care of their loved ones back home. Highway construction workers and state troopers risk their lives everyday just as truck drivers do too. I pray everyday for God to watch over my husband and keep him safe out of harms way, and that he watch over the other drivers out there so that they may go home to their loved ones. May God watch over each and everyone of you.
