Manager had a bad attitude and had it in for me. I believe she thought I was a threat to her job. She had the clout, I didn't so got fired without any good reason. Don't get me wrong, happy to be gone from there. Was not a driving job.

Rage 18 may have a good point about , "laid off."
I used the "pay & benefits"reason for leaving.
I'm from a "right to work state" & "at will", so I do empathize with you.

Lost your job, no reason given... sounds like you were laid off to me!

They don't have to say why they fired you but they can say they did terminate you. Ever see on of those release forms they have you sign but not fill out that goes to your former employers?

Little boxes that said employee resigned, terminated, etc?

You saying you were not fired and they get that form back that the company said you were could be considered lying on an application and they can use that as their reason for not hiring you.

Exactly, as a former manager I had to field those calls. Honestly I dont even know if I could say we fired them. All I could say was "after review of their employment file, this person would not be eligible for rehire" or "would" if they it was a positive parting of ways.

It says so little but also speaks volume, IMHO.

On the reverse side if I was on the fence about a hire, and I got one of these responses, Id usually declined to hire that person. I might take a chance if I had a good feeling about the applicant
