Hey I have a few questions for you guys. Orientation pay? Equipment? Cent mile? Do the trucks have apu? Inverters? Cpap test? Truck speed? Qualcomm? Do you guys follow the directions from the qualcomm or do you plan them out yourself. Thanks in advance.
RuthlessPumpkin Thanks this. -
$600 upon completion for orientation
2011-2013 cascadias and prostars and a few 2007 Columbia's
Cpm will vary but van starts at 30cpm
Some older trucks have apus, newer ones don't have apus only epus with no inverter
Cpap test I'm not sure of. They didn't when I got hired.
Truck speed is 61 on cruise and 63 foot to the floor
We run qualcomm, people net, and truck PC. Just depends as every truck is different.
Your given a route and expected to follow it.

Hello all.
Well , I took the DOT physical last Friday and passed , got my medical examiners card etc.
I just wanted to mention a few things that occur during my physical at least , so I can't
attest to anywhere else.
I did the usual things , paperwork , etc.
So , the UA test was checking for kidney function and sugar content only , at THIS time, until first day of class if I understand correctly.
Then came the weight check , THEN my neck circumference was measured.
I asked about that , but the nurse didn't know why.
The doctor came in and first thing he said was to watch my " neck circumference "
because Roehl DOES have a BMI limit.
I was 1.5 inches away from being sent to have a Sleep Apnea
test done. WHEW ! lol
I asked about when BMI requirements came into effect since I had
read , I believe it was in the FMCSA ( not sure tho ), that not until
Next year does it become mandatory for All companies to do that check.
The doctor stated , " it's up to the individual company to decide whether they want to check now or next year , and
Roehl has it done now ".
Anyway , the rest of the testing was the usual vision test ,
forced whisper test , heart , lung , ears , nose and throat test ,
and squatting and walking like a duck for a few steps.
There was also a test where I stretched my arms out , palms up , head back test checking
balance.
So , that was it , really.
Take care and be safe.

What did they say is the limit. Measuring myself I have a 16 inch neck.

How much are you paid for training? Does your cent per mile increase over time? If so when and how much? Is their a fuel bonus?RuthlessPumpkin Thanks this.

Training is $90/day
Yes it increases as your performance increases.
Every quarter, and Depends on performance
I believe there is, I've never cared to try and achieve it.

So I just completed day 1 of orientation. Did physical and the other heart rate test. As far as the BMI, I had a 16.5'' neck and I passed. Go the DOT card but its only for a year long so that might be what happens if you have a high BMI. I'm 5'10 250 but im built pretty good. We have trip planning homework for tonight. Roeh's big thing is safety and they pound it into you. They are also big on seeing progress and having good communication. Ok, thats all for now. See you tomorrow for day 2.

Roehl's website has nice charts showing pay rates over time. Dig around on this page and it's links:

Day 2 at Roehl orientation. Did a lot of driving today and started learning log books. I did really well on my shifting but need work on my turns because ''leave a hole'' and give drivers the chance to try to pass me. That is exactly what happened. I was taking a left turn into a far left lane and someone tried to pass me on my left. Tomorrow will be a full day of driving and will try to get that turning down. See you tomorrow.
Airborne, DrtyDiesel and RuthlessPumpkin Thank this.
