When I was going through orientation in June, they were saying we were changing over to cable-type chains soon. Anybody know when it is supposed
to happen? I haven't had to chain yet, but winter is coming and I don't want to mess with the heavy ones if I can get the lighter cables.

Cables are lighter but completely worthless in my opinion.

they were testing the cables on several exp driver trucks last winter and will be switching all trucks to them SOON.
whether you use them or not, (and esp with the new 'hanging' style vs in the box under the pass door) chains go bad in a year or two, as they corrode like crazy. The cables weigh nothing, can be put on TIGHTLY in 1/10th the time, and last much longer!
