So i got my spread axle trialer in a bind where i had to do a uturn in a small lot . Had to nearly jacknife the trailer to get turned around. So tracter was at 90 degrees to the trailer. Sure you get the picture. Anyway at that angle on a wet dirt lot u get a real good view of whats happening to those axles. Both were fighting each other and basically dragging clockwise to each other. And left a nice track in the mudd too. Luckily it was soft mudd and despite the fact i was loaded heavy i managed not to poP the tire off the rim.
So lesson here for myself and others driving spread axles is get the suspension dump or stock up on trailer tires... Had to be tearing those tires up. When i got to the race track i checked out the other spread axle race "" trailers and theyALL had an extra cable from the trailer to tracter which i assume is the dump. This kid will be hitting up a trailer company soon. Anyone know any places that can wire the tracter for the suspension dump? Near say fontana ca. Trailer appears to he prewired for it.
Spread tire scrub ouch

Yeah you need to be real careful when jacking around loaded. I have had a couple close calls when I first started out, but learned quickly where I can and cant go. and a dump valve is a great thing!

I wired mine without using an extra cable. Just depends on if all of your pins are being used.
Once you put a dump on the rear axle you will wonder how you did it without one.
One tip I have is wire it to a beeper or buzzer so you don't drive with the axle dumped. -
Good idea ez to forget maybe after a long day. Dot would not be happy going hrough a scale like that either. Trailer is all wired up for it just need to wire the tracter and put a switch. I think i can dump eother axle, but dumpIng the back will make those turns easier, just add a little tail swing. Ill check my pins it would be convenient to do it through there instead of messing with another cable

Great western trailer sales in Fontana can do it. When I bought my Wilson step from them I had them install a rear axle dump on the trailer before I picked it up. I would not put it on a buzzer though that would get annoying when trying to back into places. I would use a lighted toggle switch or put a light on the dash.

The tractor I drive, '07 386, has the suspension dump switches for tractor and trailer, and an icon/idiot light in the dash, plus a light on the switch. Came from the factory this way. The boss probably spec'd it this way. The front axle in my trailer is a lift axle too. So anytime I'm turning corners, I don't need to dump the suspension, just lift the front axle. Talked to a driver a couple of weeks ago, that had his spread setup so he could lift either of the axles.
