How difficult is it to get a ride-along with a Owner Driver?

The Reason i was asking is...before i commit to school and months and time into a career...i wanted to see first hand what it was like being a LONG HAUL driver.

Anyone know how i can find one.

I thought about frequenting local truck stops in my area...

Biggest problem is insurance . Even drivers that bring spouses have to buy additional insurance coverage and get carrier authorization . If an O/O is leased to a carrier most carriers that have a rider policy only allow immediate family .

You can't really, however, somewhere out there, I'm sure there's an O/O who would let you travel along. I mean, these homeless wanderer's you see with all their junk plus a dog hitchhiking near freeway on ramps do actually get people to pick them up, right ? I remember one time getting my grub at the buffet line and walking back to a table and passing other tables and a driver asked me to sit with him to eat. He said he was lonely and just wanted to talk with another driver. I felt really sorry for him and yes I did sit with him while I ate. Older guy, FB driver with WS. Kind of pathetic, but my point is, there are all kinds out there.

Bring enough cash for a greyhound ticket home if necessary. Would help if you stated your location.
