What benefit is there to recruiting people who will absolutely fail? It wastes everyone's time. I'm sorry to hear that PGT would employ the same tactic.

I have already stated that I am going to pull van for a while and then possibly revisit the idea of flatbed later. I'm not quitting.

And yes, going to orientation ruins your opportunity for tuition reimbursement from another company.

The person who told you Pgt does the same lifting test obviously hasn't been to orientation with Pgt or just doesn't remember the test. The tarp lifting test is done with a steel tarp not a lumber/wall board tarp. The steel tarp is a 25' long 4' drop tarp weighing about 75 pounds. Steel haulers at Pgt only carry steel tarps. Our wall board drivers are the ones who carry the big tarps... In the test at Pgt you lift the tarp from the ground to your shoulder walk the length of the trailer and set the tarp on the back of the trailer. After that you climb onto the trailer from the back ( the only acceptable way to climb onto out trailers. Once on the trailer you lift the tarp onto a box that is about chest high.

Never said CSA was not important. Just saying you don't know jack about what you are saying in regards to PGT. Yes our CSA score is high. Our scores may be high but it's not due to a lack of maintained equipment or having bad equipment. Most of pgt's tractors are 09 and up pro stars. Most of the trailers here are 08 and up reitnour and Mac. The equipment here is maintained very well. The high scores in the CSA for us is due to have a specific amount of drivers here that are hard headed an just don't care. If you are gonna talk badly about Pgt please make sure you have first hand knowledge of the company and how CSA works. Don't be ignorant please educate your self on the company before speaking poorly about them. As far as the training goes at Pgt it is as good if not better than TMC. We have a lot of former TMC drivers here who have openly said that the training is better here. Pgt's securement training here takes the dot required guidelines for securement and makes them more stringent. Dot wants a strap every 10 foot on long material Pgt wants a strap every 8. Dot only requires 75% of the weight covered when securing a cool Pgt wants 110%. In example 40,000 pound coil loaded suicide. Dot only requires 3 chains if the working load limits is 10,000 pounds per chain Pgt wants us you use five chains with a WLL of 10,000 a chain. And our chains and binders are rated for 10,000. So please give me examples of how PGT's training or Maintainence programs are not up to par. And as far as me saying the CSA is a bunch of bs it is. Anyone with knowledge of how CSA works would agree. It is a flawed system. So flawed that the senate is reviewing CSA. So flawed that the very dot officers who enforce trucking regs do not understand how it works.

I'm not going to get into an argument with you. I have done and experienced the PGT way. I stand by my statements, and vigorous assertion by you won't change it, the facts or the interpretations.

Congress is getting involved because enough people, with money, are getting burned and they don't like playing on a "level field". There are short-comings with the system, absolutely, but Vehicle Maintenance scores is not one of them. The fact that you have "a specific amount of drivers here that are hard headed an(sic) just don't care" is a fact that the company and it's equipment and drivers are part of a culture that "doesn't get it".

I have personal "first hand" experience with PGT, and speaking the truth about them counter to your opinion doesn't mean I'm un-educated about them. I have even stipulated specifics of my experience with them in other threads, and do not feel compelled to make a compendium of them, for you.

I am well educated with CSA and the way it works, and your opinion of the efficacy of it counter to mine doesn't make my opinion of it subordinate to yours....so you can quit trying to shout it down.

Your adamant resistance to factual opinions, other than your own, is the clearest example of ignorance. You can't possibly believe your experience is the one and only experience one can have with the same company.

If you don't like my opinion, too bad....but if you want to keep making assumptions, then be content to make them of yourself, because you obviously do not know me and/or my experiences.

First off everyone is entitled to an opinion about everything, second....everyone on here is a "freight relocation specialist" aka truck driver, half of the words you said in your post I looked up and still don't understand them! I am an Infantryman at heart with 9+ yrs in the service, I am also a college graduate and no jobs where I live decided to play out a child hood dream to drive a truck so here I am. Each person has their own good things and bad things about a company and anyone who reads any of these thread should be open minded about what they are reading. I am currently a driver for PGT and I am extremely glad that I made this move. I went through orientation in May this year and what bigman77 said about the training is correct. Now the maintenance score is getting better because they fired the previous maintenance manager. And things are getting strict at the terminals about how the trucks and trailers are taken care of. I will say that TMC does have a very beautiful fleet on the road, and driving for who ever you want is PERSONAL PREFERENCE. So I will end my rant here, stay safe out there everyone and get home to your family and friends so my family can make it home to me when I make it home safe!!!!
