    I 2nd this. That's why they are there, to "train". The trainer is supposed to explain to you the steps on how to back, not criticize for your lack of experience.

    Yes.......You couldn't be any more correct, but like I tell my children when they don't like their teacher or aren't getting what they need from their teacher in class, "If your not getting the instruction that you require, then you are going to have to work a little harder on your own, and don't let the teachers lack of ability limit your potential." So I'm just going to practice what I preach.

    I have learned when you are teaching somebody, for every negative (critiquing) there needs to be at least two positives.

    Swing that trailer in there #### it. Back up till it sounds expensive and then go 10 more feet. Whola your done then ask how was that

    Kinda sucks you only do fl and ga runs. On a dedicated account as well. You need diversity for all the different situations you'll face when you go solo. If you do get a dedicated account I think u may have mentioned it but I'm not sure then that's good then disregard what I've said. Backing comes in time your trainer is a team driver and trainer for however long so his remarks that don't help u take it with a grain of salt. After you go solo for a while you can't pick out the newbies and feel his frustration. They might come close to hitting your truck, or swerve all of the road not knowing where they're going or ask u for help with something. Just a learning process.

    Thanks coopnp, Thats the way I look at life, not just this little bump in the road. I grew up in the mountains of southwesrtern Va, I'm fully aware of the hazards that a down grade brings to the table, and how snow and ice make any road dangerous. Thats why I have decided to run what Werner calls the "OJ" account, which is Tropicana from Fl. to Fontana, Ca then to Chicago,Ill then back to Fl. This way I get the OTR,west coast,big city(Chicago)mountains,and snow and I have been asking other trainers and drivers at the TA about all of the above, ask T-Lady.....I love my info.......If you have any pointers....I'm all ears.

    My trainer busted my chops about my backing to. Nothing was right when it came to it. After 2 / 3rd day I got the hang of it.

    Keep in mind that those tandems move making your off tracking and everything else change. One thing my trainer told me and I'm sure alot of you trainers tell this to your students. Well maybe not, but it stuck with me and everytime I back I remember it.

    He told me to steer the trailer not the truck. Of course that may sound funny but he meant if you were facing that direction steer the same way you would going forward just backwards if that makes sense.. Did to me atleast.

    Setting up is a huge thing to, because the better you setup the less amount of adjustments required. Little adjustments in the steering wheel go a long way, large adjustments can complicate the easiest of backs..

    Idk trainers can tell it better then I can since they have to teach it. Me I just learned by doing it on my own. Yeah trainers give you the basics but not every situation is the same so can't teach everything to be on point.

    lantern, I think the over ajustments are my biggest problem, and my trainer says that I'm going to fast while backing.....I'm at idle....but he says its to fast....I think I'm trying to use the speed to compensate for my not seeing the movement of the trailer. I understand the concept of steering the trailer, but when my ### hits the seat and its on me to apply it, this is where it gets complicated, but I'm getting better, but not where I want to be with my backing. Thanks for the insite, the more input the better, I'll sort through all suggestions and apply all that click for me.
