every mph more is a good thing man. anyways i took the cardinal job i started today. went in at 2am. drove shotgun all day with another driver who was filling in to show me the route. he was cool, didnt talk much tried not to fall alseep. he was a flex-driver that bounces around. he was in a 2011 prostar sleeper at 65mph. we left bridgewater nj at 215am got to providence rhode island at 615 gone by 645 got to manchester ct at 825 gone at 840 hartford at 900 gone at 910 wethersfield ct 930 gone at 10 back to bridgewater at 1. got in my car and went home. was 500 miles on nose. run pays 537 miles but he took rt 6 across rhode island. i dont think imma do that way because of hill/lights. ill go the slightly longer way. day 1 was good. they gave me 2000 sign on 200 to buy company uniform(jackets/shirts) got me in a 2011 prostar daycab with 110k miles on it. dirty but ill clean it up. gave me comdata card for fuel. never had to use one before since past jobs had onsite fueling.ill have to find the most convient/quick spot to fillup. so this run pays 537 miles at 41cpm and 10 a stop 4 stops took 11 hours. w/o getting fuel and he drove prolly 62mph most of the day

Auh dam it's a day cab.
You haft to keep in mind that we're on the brink of winter and unless your company will pay for a hotel, you'll probably end up sleeping in that thing.
Now that I think about it, that's probably why the guy your replacing left.
He probably seen it coming and split.Last edited: Oct 3, 2012

well i did it for a week and so far so good. getting to the yard at 2am pretrippn and leaving at 220 hitting my stop in rhode island at 630. hasent been any traffic the entire way via 95 exept a lil repaving in ct. unload and take a 15-25 min catnap 645-715. then hit up manchester conneticut by 915. i can either take rt 6 west which is a one lane rd all the way with lights or go 20 miles out of the way and take 146 to 90 to 84 but there are scales that way. so either way kinda blows. once i hit manchester at 9-920 i hit hartford and wethersfield both before 11 and then shoot 91 to 95 to 287 back home. been pulln in yard from 130-230 dependant on traffic and fuel. thats hustling all day no breaks. paid 537 miles in reality it 508. winter time will be a diffrent story and im going to ask them what happens when it snows and im out all day and run out of hours.

I run rt 6 all of the time, to 44 to 74 to get over to hartford area from providence, and i love that little 2 laner, its easy running.
-
yea i ran it today since the traffic was dead this morning and it went really smooth. shaved off like 25 minutes going that way then all the way up to 90 then 84 back down. I just hate the traffic lights and the chance of getting stuck behind buses. ive been taking 6 then when it splits i stay right on hardtford pike. its mainly 1 lane but its not to bad just seems long

Congrats on the new job. In my younger days I used to run that route all the time, rt 6, 101, 74, to 84 into hartford. It was normally a smooth ride, but there were times you find that school bus in front of you, and sometimes they are nice and when they can, they will pull over to let traffic pass.
P.S. There is a great place if you have time, to stop for breakfast or lunch is on hwy 101, Dayville, CT. on the south side of the road called Zip's Diner. Some of the best food around, but I haven't been there in years, so it may have changed.
