Driver, I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about. The drivers that are paying to take their truck home, do not do it under dispatch. As it was said earlier in the thread, they bobtail back and forth from the house every week, instead of using their own cars. This is only available to drivers who live within 150 miles of the Troy area.

They have came up with a price of 110 a week for us to bring it home at 20 gallons of fuel for a round trip that comes out to almost 5.00 a gallon. So now what?

Really? I'm under dp from the time I leave the house, till the time I get home. And thats how it has been since I started driving in 92.

You want to pay to go for time off? Knock yourself out. When a company hires me, they know what my address is and they either find me a load home or I drop my trl in the yard and bobtail home.

You want someone to live like a vagabond and put up with being away from friends and family then you pay for it, End of story.

You can pay to go home. You can pay to go home and deduct one way as a travel expense on taxes. You can tell nitwitte to shove it and go find a company that routes you home for time off or has a yd closer to the house.

Personally I would do the latter since I would not let a company spit in my face for all the sacrifices I put up with running their frt.

I never have, and never would, work for a company that charged you to go home. :biggrin_25513:

BigBlue, once again, I say that you do not know what you are talking about when it comes to dealing with the company that we work for. We haul LTL freight that all comes to Troy by Friday of every week. Then the driver goes home for the weekend. We have a couple of ways that we can do that, we can drive our own vehicle back and forth from work like you would at a normal job, or they will let you bobtail back and forth for a charge. When a driver hires on here, they know what the policy is. We dont get dispatched out by the house like is normal with a TL carrier. We then will leave from Troy again, normally on a Sunday.

Stonecold, It sounds like since you were previously estimating that it would cost 200 per week, and now 110 that is nearly a 50% savings. Second, what are you using to figure your fuel milage, I would use that much fuel in my pickup to drive the miles that you drive. 20 gallons for 260 miles is 13.0 mpg, we dont get that good of fuel mileage, even bobtail.

Sir i dont know wether you have one of the volvos or petes but if you cant get 13 miles to the gal bobtail then you need to let teeter look at it and also i fueled before i left and when i got back and it took 20 gallons and that was over filling. I have discussed this with quite a few drivers that work for the company and they are about done also sounds to me witte is going to have to find another way to pay for his house on the golfcourse.

here it is guys i work for this company.i got a msg on my qcom yesterday about how much it was going to cost me about driving my truck home.it said your new charge for taking the truck home will be $107.94 weekly.you know i can understand them wanting to charge us for fuel but this is BS.they are trying to charge me over $5.00 a gal for fuel.i went to the VP when all this came about i told him this is crazy .he trying to say i use 34 gal of fuel to go home and back i told him no i dont he said yes it does he then says i watch the fuel that all the trucks use on this computer i said your computer is wrong he says oh no .i told him when we have a load of just say 44500 we get 6.5 to 7.0 miles to the gal mty we get around 8.0 to 8.5 and when we are bobtail we should get around 9.0 to 10.0 to the miles to the gal he then said no i said i watch mine .he said do this go out get fuel fill up before you go home and then get fuel when you get back in and tell me how much it took i said ok so i got fuel went home went back over their was getting fuel the pump stopped at 15gal i then squeezed in 21gal total i told him he said ok iv done this 2 times same thing.you know they said they would see if they could do anything different and let me know .iv been waiting for over a month now and now it is right after x-mas and new years when they know you havent been working very much.they wanna tell you they are going to charge you $108.00 a week to drive their stuff.they put you in a heck of a spot do you quit or do you go broke trying to buy a car or drive theirs.you know i really dont wanna talk bad about this company but they leave you with no choice.i dont wanna quit but what do you do.i guess someone does have to pay for the new house the VP has or can he just not afford to drive himself back and forth to work anymore .if you are looking for a job this company will have or already does have alot of openings .so if you wanna just give money away come get a job here.i will be watching this post lets hear what you got to say about this.oh ya there is some drivers that dont have to pay to take their truck home i think its bs.THIS COMPANY JUST DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR DRIVERS !!!!!!!!and for the guys looking at that 47 cent a mile you better do some looking at it first it is not 47 cents and that is only for the first year after that to bad.the old saying is the grass is not always greener on the other side check into a company before you jump I WISH I WOULD HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS BEFORE I CAME HERE A YEAR AGO
F THIS PLACE ITS BS IM OUT OF HERE AND THATS THE TRUTH.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOME OF US ARE NOT BROWN NOSING LIKE ONE THAT IS ON HERE IV SEEN.
hope you all had a good x-mas and happy new year i like the x-mas gift i got from witte i wish i would have got the vaseline to go with it if you drivers know what im saying

    Lostboy:
I"ve never heard such a crock of **** in all my driving life. I can't tell you what to do, but I would be inclined to give them the finger, tell them to shove it up their ***** and KEEP their freaking' fuel AND their job. As if you don't sacrifice enough, they want you to pay to go home?
Do other companies do this now? I have never heard of this before, but I don't do OTR anymore.
    Just unbelieveable - !
