Here's a question for some of you more experienced drivers that my trainee brought up today. "What is the lesser of the two tickets bridge/kingpin or over weight?" This came up today when we were loaded to 79000lbs and could get legal on the axles but then king pin was set to 41'(CA). I informed him that I always check the load and will go back to the shipper and have them reload the trailer so I have never gotten either ticket.
Any thoughts?

Check out "follow me through centrals training" thread. For more detailed information on training. -
As far as which is cheeper, I have no idea, as I wont risk overweight and NEVER over 40' in CA. No tickets yet.
Side note, why so heavy? When I was running out of stockton we never put over ~36k in the box. Have they gotten heavier? -
tiger 4 Thanks this.

I put my time in with central, even leased. Yes, I was an idiot. I made a little money, but for a solo it just isn't worth it. Team lease or becoming a trainer seems to be the most feasible way to make money. As for company drivers, just remember, central is a training company. You'd be wise to put in your time and move on.
You'll won't fully understand how much BS you put up with working for Central until you leave. -
For the ontime bonuses. I got mine this week. $518 for 37 loads cones to $14/load. So it is better than the old plan as long as you stay above 97% ontime. I was 100% and have to deal with students who say they will drive 6hrs then 3hrs in say they are tired so we have to sit until my 10 is up, thats hard to trip plan how your codriver is going to feel day to day. My point, 97% is very doable.
tiger 4 Thanks this. -
Thanks p4p I agree just don't get a ticket, but I thought I would put it out there to try to answer my students question.
That load was out of omst. You're right usually were only putting 30-35k in the box, but this is my 2nd load to umrsp and each time they put 44,500 in the box. Add to that I have a 500pound student and all his junk your gross goes up quick. -
i'm a positive guy.
and i didn't say anything that others that have already been down that road have also said.
LEASING IS FOR IDIOTS THAT WANNA WORK FOR FREE.
you pay central to get a job and you pay central to keep a job.
central never keeps there trucks longer then 3 years. and i've been around long enough to know that new trucks spend more time getting warranty work done then they do actually working.
but since you've only been driving for 1 year. you would know that. -
Diner Man, biggbowler, passion4polishing and 3 others Thank this.
