Cat C-16 turbo exhaust wheel size

    What was the exact size of the C-16 Garrett GT-50 turbine wheel? Exducer was something like 92-93mm if I remember right but what was the inducer?

    Aftermarket gt50s show 100mm/89mm for the exhaust wheel, not sure if the one on the C16 would be the same. For comparison sake, the S410 based turbo is 96mm/88mm.

    I thought Cat turbo was something like 96/92 but maybe I remember wrong.

    Trying to find right parts for 1000+ hp direct bolt-on turbo for my D-16 Volvo engine. Gt 47 exhaust wheel is too small and I think GT55 exhaust wheel exducer is bigger than the EPG pipe connected to original turbo. I'd like to use GT 55 exhaust wheel because they say it's very efficient but it's useless if there's restriction in stock exhaust housing after it.

    You might look at BW S500SX, the exhaust wheel is 109mm/99mm, I'm not sure how that compares with the GT55 turbine.

    Can you take off the exhaust housing and measure the wheel if it's still in one piece?

    You mean D-16? Complete Penta injectors are quite expensive, about 1000 euros a piece but you can change only tips if 10mm plungers are enough. Turbos cost whatever they cost, ECM tuning maybe 1000 euros, depends how special programming you want. Almost everything is possible: more rpm, timing changes, boost and other limiter delete, quicker pedal response, smoke limiter etc.

    GT 55 wheel is about the same but they say BW S500 is much lazier than the latest Garrett UHP wheel.

    And I can't get BW bolted directly to stock intake and exhaust piping. Was planning to get stock Volvo housing machined for Cat or GT55 exhaust wheel, then fit those wheels to stock Volvo center housing and use 80mm GTX comp wheel or maybe racing special Garrett 82 or 84mm comp wheel. Stock euro D-16 turbo is GT47 with some Volvo special 68mm comp wheel.
