This last week in Phx. there has been some changes with the Squire program and that could be causing the problem. But I think if you are that interested in Knight show up at there front door and ask for him by name, Talk to him face to face and get direct ansewers to your questions. I do know that right now they only have the one recruter for Squire in Phx. so I am sure this is just a glitch.

It's extra work to bring on a newbie female that insists on having a female trainer.
It's an exception, it's a hassle coordinating it, (it's hard enough getting willing and approved male trainers).
He's probably screening 100 males right now that he'll get maybe 20, he can just hook up with a trainer.
Had you said "I have no problem with a male trainer.", you'd have remained on his radar screen.

You should apply to Swift (trainer will be male).

Try May trucking. They have female trainers and they have a yard in Phx. In fact a lady is in charge there, Her name is Cynthia. Good starter company with decent pay and good equipment. They'll hire you.

You go, girl! You didn't badmouth the company in my eyes, simply relayed your personal experience indicating that you simply can't understand why they would lead you on and not follow through. Whether it's poor communication (doubtful) or an outright lie on Knight's behalf, it's a good thing they read this forum, maybe now that they know the general public and drivers are seeing the bs they pull, they'll clean it up, but not likely. Everyone knows recruiters lie but when they're busted cold it serves them right. I was brought up with the thinking that if you never tell a lie you don't have to worry about covering for it and screwing up the "story" at a later date. As such, once someone lies to me, their integrity is shot with me, I won't trust them again and they don't deserve a second chance, especially when said person has some sort of control of over my livelihood. They may have just done you a solid and saved you all kinds of problems in the future. Then again, perhaps it IS just poor communication, but if it IS, what's that say when a dispatcher/recruiter has poor communication? For crissakes, that's their major in college (Communications), for those who went to college.

Never said I "insisted" on a female trainer, it is standard practice to provide a female student with a female trainer. And besides, why ask for a male trainer if there is already a specific female already out there whom he told me himself that I may request by name. In 2 previous conversations we have talked about her and he made a note of her name and her Terminal.

Not to worry as I have received a few PM's with very helpful answers to my questions (Thank you very much- you know who you are) and considering "certain circumstances" that I have become aware of. It is highly likely a case of lack of communication between "the chain of command" so to speak and should be easily resolved, but thanks anyway!

I already have a female driver willing to train me - We have been corresponding regularly for nearly a month. So there is no need to request a male trainer. I have told the Recruiter a few times now, I am willing to wait till she is approved and she is willing to do what is required to get approved. She has already contacted her own DM about this weeks ago and has been waiting to hear from whoever is suppose to contact her about training ever since.

Whomever's job it is to contact her is apparently "very busy" or perhaps "didn't get the memo."

    * She has contacted me since my first post and is going to make a point of contacting someone in person at the terminal tomorrow and get things straightened out .
I should hear back from her by the end of the day.

By the way Keyster, thanks for all your "encouragement" :biggrin_25517:

Keep us posted. Sometimes a public forum can serve as keeping the feet to the proverbial flame.

OP did you ever try to get a new recruiter? Just curious. Since it looks like the one you have sucks if he is not contacting the person that said would train you.

It is going to be resolved today. My "pending trainer" is going to contact one or both of them herself .

Iam currently in the Squire program and from what i understand they will only take you on if you are a CDL school grad they will not take u just by having a permit.
Also be sure that your talking to a recrui the rmi plan on working from. I responded to an add on craigslist and contacted a recruiter, i set up the dates and so on
Ffor orietion and was told i would receive a confirmation call when the orientation day arrived i still had not heard bthem to confirm after finally getting hold of a recruiter from my local terminal i was told the recruiter i had originally
Spoke to worked out of the Phoenix terminal and that he had no business recruiting for the Lakeland FL terminal .
We finally worked out the details and i started the following week.

I was told that I need a permit and DOT exam and they train me for my CDL for $3000. Why would they charge $3000 ($2500 if u don't need a room) if they don't train for CDL??

    http://www.driveknight.com/pc/CDLProgram.html

If this doesn't mean they train for CDL I must be imagining things..

Currently seeking candidates from Phoenix, Salt Lake City and El Paso to join this great program!

It's time to stop looking at expensive CDL school training programs and begin earning a paycheck while you train for your new career with one of the top rated trucking companies in America. You can become an employee while training with Knight Transportation based in Phoenix, Arizona, get your CDL, and continue working for a premier, debt-free trucking company.

Squire Transportation prepares, trains, and develops new drivers with the knowledge and skills required to pass the state skills test and obtain a class "A" CDL. Once a trainee has obtained the CDL, Squire provides trainees with a qualified Knight mentor to assist the trainee in his or her professional development. During the training period, the trainee improves driving skills, learns the non-driving skills, and gains the knowledge to be a successful professional driver.
