If this is true, they are basically taking $1000 per month from you! I wonder what the rules are surrounding accessing the money...
It's no wonder I don't see many O/O's running with Malone. The thing is I don't see a better option for getting flatbed training as an o/o since I really like the idea of selecting my own loads! Getting stole from just doesn't feel very good...

The maintenance program as explained before they asked me to leave the room while the continued was you pay like $.10 a mile on every mile that you ran. You did not have any access to this money during the course of the lease, at certain stages of your lease the cost went down, while you are paying this $.10 you are not responsible for any maintenance cost but repairs must be approved through the maintenance dept. Now ther is a seperate maintenance fund a "voulntary" one where you set the amount taken out on all dispatched miles and can access at anytime for any reason and dont need approval...this is for o/o and l/p
what it boils down too is you have your base truck payment plus (i think it was $.10) for maintenance so ex truck payment $330 wk you ran 2500 miles that would be $250 so total truck payment for the week is $580 not including whatever other fixed cost that you have.
I am not sure about the numbers but that is basically how the system works, and I believe that as time goes on that maintence number gets lower but they cover less -
Per the lease contract with a copy that was found on the forum. first year 12cpm minimum 2880.00 Second year 12 cpm minimum 3360.00 this cover you Bumper to bumper for any DOT issue. so your engine fails tranny rear end goes out your covered (provided it not to driver error) now this does not cover cosmetic you bend a fairing a bumper whatever it's on you. windows leak on you. Now the third year it drops to 10 cpm 2400.00 and only covers tires brakes fluids scheduled Maintains belts hoses Alternators A/C heater/blower and clutch.

The Maintenance fund is .12 cents for all miles you put on the truck. It covers your maintenance, tires, engine, transmission, axle's, inspections. The trick to the maintenance fund is to make sure you get everything repaired before the end of the 2nd year of the lease. After the 2nd year your cost goes to .10 cents for all miles, and will only cover a few things. When it drops to .10 cents for all miles you will have .04 cents that goes to you when you are done with the lease. Those who own there own trucks do not have to have a maintenance fund.

Travelinman, you ask no wonder i dont see alot of owner operators with malone, i used to work with them as a DFO Driver for Owner and somehow a lady from CRST Malone called me today and asked me if i wanted to go back as a O/O. I dont know how she found out that i owned a truck now but it sure seems that they need more stability in the company. If anybody is interested in buying a truck, you can call Commercial Fleet Finance out of Carrolton TX. I bought me a Schneider National truck with 591000 mi. 10 spd. mid roof detroit 60 12.7 2006. No dpf. With my good credit, y got a deal of first two months $99.00. Then Jan 2013, $800.00 dollars a month even on a 5 week month. So i am paying $200 on a 4 week month and one week frre basically on a 5 week month. A guy in malone was paying $360 a week for 81 month so do the math. My deal is for 36 months and bought this truck at $22,000 dollars. A very good unit one driver the records from maintenance showed. If you cant qualify for the first offer, then they can get you a downpayment deal. Guys, ill tell you what, dont fall for a Lease Purchase that the loads are controlled by FMS and Agents. Thats why they are running short on O/O because i know the game they are playing at malone and buying your truck, you can find another place to pull their loads. Im pulling Containers 100 miles radius out of Tampa FL and just two runs a week to fernandina beach. So if you want a good financing company, try Commercial Fleet Financing and call Jason Giese or Sarah Burnett @ ext. 10. Phone 972-247-8447. Good Luck.
